Fall, where are you?

For anyone who doesn't believe that we are hitting triple digit highs this week, I did a screen print of the weather app on my iPhone:

Oh yeah, you read that right. 101. And that seems to be the coolest "high" of the week (and supposedly we haven't reached the "high" for today yet). It's times like this that I'm so THANKFUL my office has an UNDERGROUND parking garage.

If you are from Texas (or have ever been in Texas during the summer months), you can appreciate these.

You know you are from Texas when:

-You can say 110 degrees without fainting...
-You can make instant sun tea...
-You learn that a seat belt makes a pretty good branding iron...
-The temperature drops below 95, you feel a bit chilly...
-You discover that in August it takes only 2 fingers to drive your car...
-You discover that you can get a sunburn through your car window...(we call it a "Rush Hour Tan")
-You notice the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance...(so true...)
-You actually burn your hand opening the car door...
-You break a sweat the instant you step outside...at 7:30 a.m. before work...(don't laugh, it's between 80-85 degrees when I leave at 7 a.m. for work!)
-Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?"
-You know all four seasons: Almost summer, summer, Still summer, and Christmas...

  1. Haha all of this is so true! I've been wishing and hoping for an early fall - or um, not-summer. (o:

  2. That's horrible...I thought it was hot down here in naples. We burn ourselves too ...a lot on the seat belts and doors...ughhh....I'm thinking of moving back up north just to wear some cute boots and scarves...although it was extremely humid in NY this summer....we can't win!

  3. I completely understand everything on that list! It isn't that much different here in OKC! I found an opening parking spot with a big shade tree covering it and could hardly contain my joy! It means my car won't be 120 when I leave work tonight at 7! haha

I just checked the temps and it's 100 up here, so I definitely feel your pain!

    Stay cool! :)

  4. Wow...and I thought it was hot in NC! We've been having upper 90's, with above 100 heat indexes...and that's a little much for us! Stay cool, my friend!

  5. Ya'll are a bit warm, aren't ya? Wow. We've only tipped over 100 once, maybe twice, and the mid-90s of the past week or two have been just beautiful--dry, not humid like other regions...

So I need a tutorial on how to do that image off your iPhone... that's cool.

  6. That is just ridiculous! How can you people stand it! Don't you just fry walking from the car to the house? and across a huge parking lot into a store? What about dogs? Do they survive that heat? What about their pads as they are walking across the hot asphalt?

I'll keep Wisconsin. (and complain about the arctic temperatures we get in a few months. :-)

  7. It sounds weird, but you actually get used to the heat. Don't get me wrong, it's still hot!! :) Of course once the temperature drops below 60 we'll start complaining it's cold!!
    :)

Sherilee: If you wanna take a picture of your iPhone screen, hold down the "home" button and the "off" button (the one at the top) at the same time. It will snap a screenprint. You can find it in your photo album. : )
