This past weekend one of my best friends and I went to see Darius Rucker and Brad Paisley in concert (yes, Darius Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish). Despite the temperature being 102 degrees at 5:30 pm when we got there, we still had fun. My friend Brandy got married last year, and we don't get to hang out as much as we used to, so we had fun catching up while waiting for the concert to start.
The funniest part of the evening (honestly we shouldn't laugh, but we couldn't help it), was when these kids got busted for underage drinking. We saw one of them earlier in the evening pull a flask from his pocket and pour it in his soda. He looked about 15 (but I realize the older I get, the younger kids look, so I thought maybe he was a young looking 21 year old). Turns out he probably was about 15. Someone must have told security because right when Darius Rucker took the stage we saw the group of kids all of sudden take off in different directions. Two big guys in security shirts grabbed two of the kids and demanded ID. I guess they were mouthing off, because at one point, one of the security guys grabbed the kid by the face as he led them away. The crowd started cheering. Let that be a lesson kids: Don't drink if you are underage- especially in public. Not a bright idea!
Anyways, back to the concert. Darius Rucker was awesome. This is the second time I've seen him perform in person. I honestly think you should check his music out. I swear I'm not trying to convert y'all to be country music fans (I know I'm constantly recommending country artists for you to listen to)- but seriously, he has a great voice. Along with songs from his country album, he also sang some Hootie and the Blowfish songs. That took me back to high school! ;)
Brad Paisley did not disappoint either. I saw him last year in concert and this year probably topped that concert. The special effects were so awesome. He was funny too. After about his second or third song, he stopped to take a drink of water. He was like, "I'm going to fire my booking agent. He was like, 'yeah, Texas in August, it will be great!' What are y'all doing in December? Maybe I'll comeback then."
I promised some of you I would share pictures, so here they are! Have a great day!! :)
BFFs looking hot (literally) in the sun. I had curled my hair and it looked really cute then I stepped outside and realized it was definitely a ponytail day. :)
Our view from the lawn seating
While waiting for the concert to start we got bored, so we took pictures! :)
Opening act Justin Moore
One more BFF picture- this time without my shades!
Darius Rucker- yes he was wearing a "Run DMC shirt"!
Brad Paisley taking the stage
At one point he moved to a stage closer to the "cheap seats".
During the song Celebrity a "mascot-sized" Brad Paisley came out on stage.
During his duet with Allison Krauss
I absolutely love Brad- he did a great job! Looking forward to his concert next year! :)
Darius Rucker- Alright
Darius Rucker- Don't Think I Don't Think About It
Brad Paisley- American Saturday Night
Brad Paisley- Celebrity
Brad Paisley- Online (he seems to like Jason Alexander and William Shatner in his music videos!) I love this one!!
Brad Paisley- I'm Gonna Miss Her (a video for any of my male followers, I thought they would appreciate this one!) Side note: Brad's wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, is in this video (she was the daughter in Father of the Bride. She was also in According to Jim). It also has Dan Patrick from ESPN and Jerry Springer.
