It's OK!

Today would have been my grandma's 98th birthday. She passed away in 2001. I just wanted to remember her before I started my It's OK post for the day. We love you grandma!

Some of my favorite memories of my grandma include watching old movies with her. When I was 10, she let me see The Omen (the 1970s version). She kept saying, "Don't let your daddy know we watched this movie." I miss her everyday!
  It's OK...

...that I haven't updated my blog in a week.

...that I was a little sad after Big Tex burned down last week at the State Fair. BUT, it was just a statue and although it's sad a little part of history is gone (he was 60 years old), they will rebuild him before the fair next year. And thankfully no real person was injured during the fire.
Remembering the good times with Big Tex.
...that I found this really funny! (you might have to click on the picture in order to read it)

...that this is my reaction when I see political talk on my Facebook feed and Twitter timeline. I'm so ready for the election to be over with.

I know, real attractive, huh?
...that I'm a little bummed I'm not going to the Luke Bryan/Jason Aldean concert this weekend...
Yummy...
BUT, I AM excited that I'm going out of town for this little guy's 3rd birthday. I would pick seeing him over seeing a concert any day!

My favorite superhero, AKA, my great-nephew E. His birthday party is tomorrow.
...that I'm looking forward to the cold front that is coming through this weekend. I'm hoping my mom makes some of her chili while I'm home visiting.
If you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait. It will change.
...that I'm pretty sure my gift for my nephew E will make me Aunt of the Year.
A talking Jake and the Neverland Pirates spyglass, Madagascar TRILOGY DVD, and Jake and the Neverland Pirates big boy underwear. Yes, I'm the aunt that gives underwear. But the toys and movie make up for it.
...that I take pictures of myself with my iPhone when I get bored.
How you doing?? ;)
...that I'm pretty sure I'm the only person EVER to get a near 2nd degree burn on her leg due to dropping her flat iron on it. Don't laugh...no seriously, stop laughing. It's a long story and such a freak accident. I am the queen of getting odd injuries though. This really shouldn't surprise me.
My boo-boo. There are now pictures of my naked leg on the internet. I'm sure this will come back to haunt me one day.
...that I love these pictures of me and my best friend Mandy. She was in town last weekend with her family. We were trying to get a picture of us after we had lunch. The wind wouldn't cooperate, and after a while, Miss E got tired of posing with us!
We have been friends for close to 24 years!
What's OK with you today??

XOXO!

It's OK Thursday...

It's OK...

...that I'm stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something new and different (no, I'm not going to elaborate right now, stay tuned...)

...that I'm trying to figure out who I'm supposed to like and who I'm supposed to hate on the show Revenge. I LOVE it (thanks to my sister Mary for introducing it to me over the summer. I spent a month watching season one on Netflix. Season two just started this past month). I know that Emily is the protagonist, but sometimes I wonder if she is really a good person or a bad person. I can't stand Ashley or Faux Amanda. Nolan started growing on me at the end of last season. I can't decide if I'm Team Jack or Team Daniel. I think I'm leaning more towards Team Jack (if you watch the show, you know what I mean).

(l-r) Daniel, Emily, Jack
...that I went home after being released from jury duty early instead of being a good employee and going in to work.

...that I started watching the show Chicago Fire because I love a good drama series with quality writing, special effects, and good acting.
Or maybe it's because my friend Laura told me the show was about hot firemen. You decide! :)
...that I watch entirely too many TV shows. I told myself I wouldn't start watching any new shows, I'm out of control. I didn't mention earlier that my sister also got me hooked on the CW show Hart of Dixie. I just watched season one on Netflix and am catching up on season two on Hulu. I really need to get a life. :)

...to be 34 years old and buy dinosaur shaped nuggets. Hey- they were on sale! Don't be hatin'!

...that this picture makes me laugh and feel a little sad all at the same time.

What's OK with you today?

XOXO!

Wednesday Ramblings...

I haven't done a Wednesday Ramblings in a while, but I couldn't think of one specific thing to write about today, so I'm going with it. It's been busy week!

I saw a cute Dallas Cowboys wreath on Pinterest (follow me here) and decided to try and make one myself (yes, despite the pain and suffering the 'Boys cause me, I'm still a fan). For better or for worse, in few precious wins and heart-breaking losses, I'm a fan for life (despite hating Jerry Jones with every fiber of my being).

The pin wasn't linked to a particular blog or website, so I apologize I can't link it back to the original person. Here is the pin I saw. It looked like this person used a Styrofoam wreath, but I used a wooden one instead (I had bought one a few months ago on sale at Michael's). I had bought it for another project, but I gave up on that one. Glad I still had it!

I painted the wreath this "greekstone" color (honestly- the paint was on sale for 99 cents and since it wouldn't really show through anyways, I just went ahead and used it. I used two coats just to be sure it was completed covered.

After letting the spray paint dry, I wrapped the wreath with blue and silver yarn. Due to my busy schedule, there was a week between painting it and wrapping it in yarn, but if you wanted to try this, I'm sure you would just have to wait a day before you started applying the yarn. The spray paint seemed to dry pretty quickly.

I used a hot glue gun to glue down each end of the yarn. I didn't use any glue during the wrapping. Only when I started and finished a color. It seemed to work just fine that way.

I found a package at Hobby Lobby with cute wooden letters and shapes to use for the lettering. I also found an iron on football applique that I was able to just stick on the wreath once I was finished.

I spray painted the letters white, then applied what I call "puffy" paint to give the letters a little decoration. I got both of them at Hobby Lobby (although I'm sure any craft store would have them).

Here is the finished product!

So, on Saturday I went shopping with the BFF. She convinced me that I looked cute in this hat so I went ahead and bought it from T.J. Maxx. Thoughts?

While we were at T.J. Maxx, we saw this really hideous looking sweater (if you own this, I apologize, but I think it's hideous). It was made completely of these sequin type things. No lie. I took a picture because I knew no one would believe me. Check out the price tag on this bad boy. Who in their right mind pays THAT much for ANY sweater?? I like that T.J. Maxx mentioned that this thing normally cost $500. My mind is blown. I could buy a whole new wardrobe at Kohl's for $500.

I picked up some new followers on Twitter this past week. Shameless plug, follow me on Twitter here. Here are two of them.

I've never had a butt follow me before, BUT since it's Luke Bryan's, I'm okay with that!! ;)

Not gonna lie, had a giddy nerd moment when I saw this. If you know me, you know I'm fascinated by tornadoes and tornado chasing. Reed Timmer is a well known tornado chaser who was on the TV show Storm Chasers (I miss it). I had tweeted to him about something and he replied back. Then he started following me. Wonder if he's up for company on his next chase? I'd love to go! :)
So, it seems that I'm now getting spam not only in my email inbox, but my snail mailbox. I got this letter last week. No lie. It was addressed to me. Not sure how I got on the Miss Teen Dallas mailing list, but I would like off of it please.

No, I'm not one of those people who thinks beauty pageants are degrading to women. I just find them boring. I have no interest in them at all.
I guess that's enough ramblings for one day, I hope everyone has a great week!

XOXO!

Oh, how Pinteresting!

Here is what I've been pinning lately...

I so need to remember this!
I feel like this at least once a day! :)
My second baseball crush of all time, Chipper Jones, retired this year. My baseball heart is sad. :(
This may or may not be me... ;)
I recently got sucked into The Vampire Diaries (no pun intended- wait, yeah, the pun was intended) on Netflix. I just spent the past week watching season 3 since season 4 starts tomorrow. Anyways, this is Ian Somerholder, AKA, Damon Salvatore. He is quite lovely. :)
Do I even need a reason for why I pinned this? ;)

Currently working on something similar to this. I'll post pictures when I'm done!
I will make this before next season!!
How cute are these??!! Superhero onesies!!
Chocolate covered strawberries...these look good!!
I totally believe this!
Hope everyone is having a great day!

XOXO!

Phone Photo Fun Monday

I decided to link up for the last edition of Phone Photo Fun Monday (I'm so sad it's going away). :(

Here's what you'll find on my phone this week...

My fortune from Pei Wei. I so hope this is true, I could use some happier days!
The weather forecast as of Saturday morning. Gotta love Texas- if you don't like the weather, just wait, it will change.
The sweet text I got from my nephews C and E after the Rangers were eliminated from the playoffs last weekend.
I found this shirt at Kohl's. I was so tempted to buy it! :)
I finally found seasons 8 and 9 of The Waltons this past weekend (thus completing my DVD collection of the series). Best Buy had them on sale for $9.99 (normally $34.99 each). I also got the reunion movies DVD for $9.99. Yes, I'm a dork, I know this.
Got to see my cousin Jason this past weekend. We were at a birthday party for my cousin Kristen's daughter.
Cousin Ray-Ray with the birthday girl Miss L!
Me with Jason's oldest son, A. He was being a little punk on Saturday night, but I still love him. Don't let that cute smile fool you! :)
Hope everyone has a great day!

XOXO!
