In honor of Johnny Depp's 47th birthday yesterday, I decided to dedicate my Thursday 13 to him. So, here are 13 of my favorite Johnny Depp performances (in no particular order).
1. Benny and Joon: My favorite line in the movie is "Having a Boo Radley moment, are we"?" -Joon.
2. What's Eating Gilbert Grape? I know, this is a Johnny Depp list, but Leonardo DiCaprio did a really good job in this movie! And I love how Johnny's character is so sweet with Arnie! If you have never seen it, it's a bit of a tear-jerker!
3. Nick of Time: Am I the only one who remembers this movie? Johnny plays a guy whose 6 year old daughter is kidnapped. He's told by the kidnappers if he doesn't kill the governor within the hour, his daughter dies. The movie is done in real time, so you are literally counting down the minutes he has left to save his daughter's life.
4. Secret Window: This one is weird. I'll just warn you now it's based on a Stephen King book. If you have ever read any of his books, or seen any movies based on his books, you know he is a little "out there". But, I still thought it was good.
5. Pirates of the Caribbean: This includes all three of them. I think they are making a forth one!
6. Public Enemies: You'll NEVER look at John Dillinger the same way again! ;) And another bonus, this movie has Christian Bale in it! ;)
7. Edward Scissorhands: I need to watch this movie again, it's been YEARS since I've seen it. Another side note: this movie was Vincent Price's last screen performance.
8. Chocolat: I'll be honest, I probably wouldn't have seen this movie if Johnny Depp hadn't been in it! :)
9. Sleep Hollow: This is another one I haven't seen in a while. Looks like I'll be hitting up Blockbuster sometime soon! Or I'll look to see if someone has uploaded it to YouTube!
10. Ed Wood: Seriously, I think Tim Burton has a man crush on Johnny Depp, he's in so many of his movies!
11. A Nightmare on Elm Street: I had to include the movie that started his career. By far one of the best in the "Nightmare" series!
12. From Hell: I remember this being a pretty good thriller. I shall add it to my "movies to rent" list!
13. 21 Jump Street: I was only going to do a movies list, but I couldn't have a Johnny Depp list and NOT include 21 Jump Street. How could you forget the catchy theme song??
I never cared for 21 Jump Street; Edward Scissorhands started my love of Johnny Depp and Captain Jack Sparrow solidified it!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize Johnny Depp was that old. Hmmm. I still like him best as Captain Jack Sparrow. Happy TT!
ReplyDeleteI've never been a big Johnny Depp fan, but I loved Nick of Time too. And Public Enemies was fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I've seen him in something, but none of these.
