Weekend Update!

I'm taking a little break from What I'm Loving Wednesday. If you came to link up, please comment below so I can go check out your link! :) Don't worry, it will come back, it's not going away for good! :)

First of all, Happy Back to the Future Day! Even if you have never seen the Back to the Future movies, I'm sure by now you are all aware that today, October 21, 2015, is the future date that Marty goes to in the second film. It's not QUITE what they predicted (still bummed that we don't have flying cars or hoverboards). It's strange to think that after today, all of Back to the Future will have taken place in the past. Yes, I'm a nerd. :)

I started a weekend update post on Monday, and never got around to posting it, so you will get that today!

I had a pretty busy weekend, which started on Thursday afternoon. Some friends and I went to the great State Fair of Texas one more time before it shut down for the year. If you live in Texas and have never been, I highly recommend going at least once. It's worth the trip! I went earlier this month too (you can check that out here).

Yes, this sculpture is made completely of butter

With my friend Allan. We have known each other since elementary school!
The famous Fletcher's corny dogs. Yes, corny dogs. That's how we say it here. Lol
I started a great debate on social media after admitting that I put ketchup on my corny dog. I'm not a fan of mustard. I also put ketchup on my hog dogs (which started an even bigger debate). Lol.
Riding the Texas Star, the largest Ferris Wheel in America
Until next year Big Tex!
Friday and Saturday I attended Dallas Comic Con Fan Days. You might remember I attended "the Con" back in May (where I met Dean Cain). My main reason for going this time was to meet Ralph Macchio and William Zabka (from The Karate Kid). William played Johnny, AKA, "the bad guy" (although after meeting him, I'm gonna be so conflicted the next time I watch the movie, he's really a sweet guy). :)

I ran into some friends I met back in May at Comic Con. My friend April and her son were there, it was so good to see them again. We have kept in touch on Facebook and Instagram since May. Last time her son was dressed in a Superman shirt (he told me he would be my Superman). This time he was dressed as Jimmy Olsen (the photographer from Superman). He's so adorable!

Over the weekend, I also ran into another friend I met at my last Con, Mandy. Her costume was awesome!

My first photo op was with William Zabka. Like I said, he was so sweet. I had asked him on Twitter for a hug, and when I told him that, he gave me a big hug and kissed the side of my head. When I picked up my picture afterward, everyone was joking that it looked like an engagement picture. I swear we didn't dress the same on purpose. Lol.

My friend Monica and I went by his booth later for autographs. He took a picture with us and even asked for another one with just me. I got another hug (and kiss on my cheek). :)

It looks like Marty Kove is pointing at my butt in the background. Lol.
I loved how he signed my picture! :)

I also had the pleasure of meeting Ralph Macchio. Talk about a childhood dream come true! He was also super nice. When I went to his booth to have the picture of us signed, he told me if he had been a girl, his name would have been Rachel. We talked a little baseball (imagine that) and he said he was cheering for the Rangers a few years ago in the playoffs.

The Karate Kid himself!
I honestly had only planned on getting pictures with those two, but of course, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to meet some other actors who were there (it's what I do). :)

C. Thomas Howell. No, I did NOT call him Ponyboy
James Marsters (Spike, to all you Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans)
John Rhys-Davies. He's been in so many things, including Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings, and the TV show Sliders. For the record, he was tickling both of us when we took this picture. He's a flirty old guy.
Shawn and Aaron Ashmore. Both were so sweet. Shawn was Iceman in the X-Men movies and Aaron played Jimmy Olsen in Smallville. The camera that Aaron is wearing was knitted by my friend April. She and her son were only there on Friday, but Aaron wasn't able to attend that day. They gave the camera to Shawn and he promised he would give it to Aaron. I happened to notice that Aaron was wearing the camera at his booth on Saturday. I noticed during our photo op it was by his backpack. I told him my friend was the one who made it and asked if he would wear it for the picture. He said he loved it and to thank my friend.
Michael Rooker (Walking Dead, Guardians of the Galaxy, Days of Thunder). He was funny and very friendly. Maybe a little TOO friendly. He had been playing with my hair before we took the picture.
I finally got to meet some of my Twitter friends while at Comic Con too! :)

John and I have been Twitter friends for several years now

Was so happy to finally meet Devin!

I was also glad I got to see a few of my friends who I don't see all that much these days (life gets to be so busy).

Jonathan and I have been friends since college
My friend John, who happens to be married to my BFF Brandy (I introduced them). :)
Saturday evening I met up with a few members of my Sunday School class for "Supper Club". Since I'm new to the church and the class, I enjoyed getting to know some of my class members. And the food was amazing! I somehow didn't get any pictures of our group though, I was too busy talking and eating (not at the same time though). :)

Sunday I went to church and then spent the afternoon working on crafts for the Trunk or Treat Event my church is hosting next Sunday evening. I suggested a theme for my Sunday School class's "trunk" and that somehow put me in charge of the decorations. I'm having fun with it though, I'll post pictures next week of it! :)

Hope everyone is having a great week!

XOXO!

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday!! Hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent Friday night at home watching baseball (I don't want to talk about the outcome of that game), and I also worked on my novel a little (well, short story, I don't think I'm ever gonna have enough written to call it a novel). I'll never complain again when my favorite authors take time getting their next novel published, this is hard to do!

Saturday I pretty much stayed in bed all morning and most of the afternoon watching college football.
For some reason, my TV looks really tiny in this picture. It's a 32 inch flat screen, so it's not that small.
I also had college football discussions via text with my nephew James.

If Baylor running back Lache Seastrunk ends up winning the Heisman, this is proof my nephew and I thought early he was a good candidate! :)
Saturday evening I finally pulled myself out of bed away from the television (for a while at least) and met up with my friend Theresa. We went to college together and hadn't seen each other in about 13 years. She and her husband were in town for the weekend so we met up for dinner. It was great seeing her, we have promised it will not be 13 years between our next visit!

Theresa's dog Tux insisted on being in the center of the picture
After I got home, I spent the rest of Saturday evening watching baseball (again, don't want to talk about the outcome of THAT game either) and college football. I wish the Texas Tech game was available on my cable (and I'm not just saying that because I think the Texas Tech coach is good looking- which he is). That game would have been been better than the UT game or the Notre Dame game (I have two friends who are Notre Dame fans, I seem to keep up with the Irish now when it comes to football. The things I do for my friends). :)

Random picture of Texas Tech football coach Kliff Kingsbury. See, told you he was good looking. Wreck 'em Tech. :)
Sunday morning I was up earlier than usual, so I decided to get a breakfast taquito from Whataburger before church. I wasn't the only one with that idea.

Well worth the wait...
Church went really well on Sunday. I got to sit by a buddy of mine (we both discovered recently that we attended the same church-it's a big church, it's easy to miss people in the crowd). After services, I had a great lunch with one of the lovely ladies from my Bible study before we met up with the rest of our group. It was kind of what I needed after my week last week (I might have mentioned I was feeling blah last week).

I finally went grocery shopping (we won't say how many weeks I've been eating out because I've been to lazy to go to the store). I actually cooked dinner last night. Boom!

I wonder if my back left burner feels like a red-headed stepchild. I never use that burner. Am I the only person who only uses the front right burner?
Last night the Cowboys were the Sunday night game of the week. I know, there are a lot of Cowboys haters out there. I can't help it, I've been a fan too long, why give up now. I'm also an unapologetic Romo supporter. I think he gets the blame for a lot of things that are not his fault (not saying that he doesn't deserve SOME of the blame- he's not perfect). But alas, I can't help but love the man (although he breaks my heart every year). Last night I had a range of emotions during the game (that usually happens when I watch Cowboys football). I didn't get a picture of all of my facial expressions, but here are a few. I was entertaining a friend during the game by texting him. He thought it was funny I was throwing things (my brush possibly went flying across my room at one point. My college roommate will verify I do throw my brush if I get frustrated during sporting events).

The picture to the left is how I looked whenever the Cowboys couldn't take advantage of a Giants turnover. The picture on the right is a happy Cowboys fan after they held on for a 36-31 win.
Yes, I did take a picture of my TV during Romo's postgame interview. Don't judge me.
I'm looking forward to this week. I'm going to three Rangers games (I cannot believe the regular season is just a few weeks from being over- where did the season go?) The Rangers BETTER hold on and make the playoffs this year. I spent an un-godly amount of money on post season tickets (I have no self control) and I want to use them. My folks are also coming to town this weekend- they have never seen my new apartment. I'm actually taking them to the game on Friday night. I bought them new Rangers shirts for their anniversary. I'll post pictures of them next week- they are adorable. :)

How was your weekend?

XOXO!

Weekend Recap and Blog Challenge Day 19!

I hope your weekend was fabulous! I had a pretty great weekend. It started off Friday afternoon when I found these movies on blu-ray at Best Buy. What is even better is that I didn't realize until I got home they only charged me the DVD price..-score! I also had Best Buy reward points to use (I'm so addicted to Best Buy).
I don't care how old I get- I will always love these movies.
Friday night was my third Rangers game of the week. It was Fireworks Friday to the music of Elvis. We won't talk about the outcome of the game, but the fireworks show was awesome! And of course, how can you NOT have a good time listening to Elvis music?

I made a donation to the US Navy (they were outside the Ballpark) and they gave me an American flag. God bless our troops!
Captain, the Rangers mascot, got into "Elvis Fever". Picture stolen borrowed from MLB's Instagram.
Saturday I was at the Ballpark again for my fourth game of the week. I got last minute tickets to my company's suite (I do NOT turn down free suite tickets). It was so much fun. It was even better that the Rangers won 15-3. And I got to hang out with my BFF Brandy (who I don't get to see that much).

My baseball homegirls Julie and Monica
Me and the BFF
I think they updated the seats in the suite from last year- they were all cushiony now. Is cushiony a word?
Our view
The Texas Legends Race. It's only fitting that Davy Crockett won- his birthday was Saturday. :)
Rangers win- I like Texas!
After the game, I met up with friends to celebrate the birthday of my buddy Rich. He was super excited about the Whataburger gift card I gave him. And the Rangers bucket that I got for him at the suite. :)
He's so silly!
Me with the birthday boy!
A new friend, and new Twitter follower, Scott
Sunday was relaxing. After church, I had lunch with a friend and stopped by Half Price Books. I never seem to get out of Half Price Books empty handed. After that some friends and I met at Braum's for ice cream. Overall, a very full, but fun, weekend.

Blog challenge Day 19: What are some embarrassing moments you've had?

Oh sheesh, I have so many (why is it that we are always so willing to share our embarrassing moments?) :) Well, one time in high school I marched out of my band shoe during a competition. I had to finish the show with only one shoe on. Then afterward, I had to run back on the field to get my other shoe. My most embarrassing moment probably took place in college. Click here for that story.

Hope everyone has a great day!

XOXO!

Weekend Recap...

I was trying to think of an exciting topic for today's post, but I couldn't think of one, so I decided to just recap my weekend. Sadly, it wasn't ALL too exciting, but bear with me! :)

On Friday afternoon I had an appointment with my chiropractor (I'm having neck issues since my wreck two weeks ago). Can I just say that having a neck adjustment is quite possibly one of the scariest medical procedures out there (okay, maybe not THE scariest, but still, the scariest one I've been through). My chiropractor was telling me how he was going to twist my neck for the adjustment. I told him that is how they kill people in ninja movies when they break their necks. He laughed at me (yes, he actually laughed when I said it). Thankfully, he knows what he's doing and it all turned out fine, he didn't break my neck (obviously, since I'm typing this post). This was my first time seeing this particular chiropractor, he was very nice. I do have two follow up appointments this week (per his request). Yeah, being in a wreck is a pain in the neck (sorry, bad pun, and yes, it was totally intended). :)

Friday evening one of my besties and I had a movie night at my apartment. She saw that I own a copy of Letters to Juliet (yes, Rachel actually owns a chick-flick) and she wanted to watch it.

It's actually one of the 5 chick flicks that I own. I'll be honest, I think that Christopher Egan (the blonde guy) is cute, it's one of the main reason I bought it. Although for the most part, it's not too bad of a movie (except the ending, which kinda makes me gag a little and reminds me why I don't normally watch chick flicks). I know, I'm a weird girl. Regardless, my bestie and I had a lot of fun. We don't get to hang out that much anymore, so it was fun spending time with her! Also, it's fun being able to watch a movie with someone else who makes snide comments and notices the little annoying things in the film. :)

Me and "the BFF" (as she likes to be called). This picture is a few years old, but I think it's a cute one! It makes me miss my long hair though!
Saturday was my company picnic at Six Flags Over Texas. Sadly, due to my neck injuries (and on orders from my chiropractor) I was not able to ride the roller coasters I normally ride. :( I did have permission to ride the Merry-Go-Round though.

Am I the only person who rides a Merry-Go-Round and hopes that the horses will jump off and end up at a horse race where Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews sing Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious? Maybe I've seen Mary Poppins too many times! :)

Anyways, Saturday after I got home, I relaxed and finished reading a book I had started on Friday afternoon.

After church yesterday, I went grocery shopping and spent the afternoon working on Christmas craft projects (due to the fact I'm not sure who all reads my blog, I can't post pictures until AFTER I give them the gifts). Last night I may or may not have watched some episodes of season 1 of Roswell on Netflix (special thanks to my friend for letting me use his Netflix account). Back story: On Friday my bestie and I were talking about the old school WB show (Roswell, Felicity, etc) and how it seems most of the actors we like today at one time starred or guest starred on one of those shows. We decided there was a six degrees of separation from the WB. So anyways, she mentioned Roswell and we both talked about our love lust admiration of Max, especially future Max. **sigh**

Jason Behr (who played Max)
Future Max. This isn't the best picture of him, but Google Image search was no help in finding the picture I wanted.
So, what did you do this weekend?

XOXO!!
