Wednesday Ramblings...

Wow, I haven't done one of these posts in a long time (I think the last one was in 2013). I love when I can just ramble on and on and my thoughts don't have to make sense (although that is what my blog is the majority of the time). Lol.

First of all, thank you for all the sweet texts and messages about my blog post from yesterday. I really appreciate it. And I promise to work on being better about being honest when I'm "not okay". :) Love you all for being so concerned!

Oh, I can't post today and NOT wish a very happy birthday to The Karate Kid himself, Ralph Macchio. Yes, I'm totally using this as an excuse to post (AGAIN) the picture of me with Ralph a few weeks ago at the Dallas Comic Con.

So, since I canceled my cable (suck it, Time Warner), I've been watching my shows online. Thanks to two sweet friends, I can stream a lot of my current shows with one's Hulu password and the other's Direct TV password (they are too good to me, I love them both. Okay, I would love them both even WITHOUT the passwords). I should have canceled my cable a long time ago. :) Although I'm behind on most of my shows. I've been spending more time in the evening reading (I know, I owe you more book reviews). I was texting my best friend last night and joked that I needed a day off work just to catch up on shows. That's tempting. :)

I've gotten back into working on craft projects. I really need to organize my craft closet, but that is an all day project, and I just don't have time (meaning I haven't MADE time). I'm working on one project right now, but it's for a friend's birthday, and he claims to read my blog, so I won't post anything about it until after his birthday next weekend. :) I'll try to remember to take pictures of it. :)

I'm really excited that I've blogged three times this week. I might try and blog tomorrow, just to say I blogged FOUR times in one week. That's a record for me (lately at least).

I've had several people compliment my blog this week and say how much they enjoy my posts (even when it's just pictures). That means so much to me. I know some people have fancy blogs and post important information. It means a lot that people care what weird stuff I ramble on about. Seriously, thank you.

Hang on, the weekend is getting closer!

XOXO!

Wednesday Ramblings...

I was going to do my typical What I'm Loving Wednesday, but I just couldn't get motivated to do so (not that I'm not loving anything right now, but I just wasn't feeling it today). I almost went on a rant about bullying (especially cyber bullying), but I needed more time to put my thoughts down on paper, errr, the webpage (be prepared, that rant might happen tomorrow or Friday).

A long time ago, I used to do Wednesday Ramblings. I loved them because I would just post whatever, it didn't have to have a "theme" and I could jump around from topic to topic. I thought that fit my mood for today so here I go.

I'm so out of it that I keep forgetting it's Wednesday. I told myself I could do a Twitter Tuesday post then went, wait, it's Wednesday. I've been so tired this week. I blame part of it on the fact the Rangers are playing on the West Coast, so games don't start until 9pm Texas time. I'm not as young as I used to be (sadly). It's hard to survive on little sleep. Although I'll admit I fell asleep before the game ended last night- the melatonin I took kicked in early.

So, I'm really in need of a vacation from work (don't get me wrong, I love my job, I just need a little break). I mean, I'm going to Boston in just over a month to see my friend Jodi (and I CAN'T WAIT for that trip), but I think I almost want a "stay-cation" at some point. You know, the kind where I can just stay home and take care of all the things I keep telling myself I'm going to do. Like work on my scrapbooks. I still haven't done my Atlanta scrapbook. I took that trip THREE YEARS AGO!! I also need to work on my Spring Training scrapbook from last year and my trip to Memphis from last fall. I'm so lazy when it comes to working on those. Also, a stay-cation would allow me to just rest and not worry about being anywhere or doing anything specific. I need to look into that!

I wanted to post a picture of Chipper Jones here and wish him a happy birthday, but Blogger is freaking out on me and won't let me upload pictures (the one below I uploaded earlier because I was originally going to start my post with the Blog Challenge). I don't know what the deal is. Anyways, happy birthday Chipper, I'll post pictures of you another day! :)

I'm excited and a little sad that the season finale of Duck Dynasty is tonight. It seems like the season just started (why are the seasons of cable TV shows so short?) Anyways, I'll be watching tonight for sure!

I'm sure I could ramble on about other things, but I honestly, just don't feel like it (we all get in funks, right??) Hope everyone has a great day!
Blog Challenge Update:

Day 24: A photo of you from 2007
This is a picture of me when I went to New York in 2007. It's me having breakfast at Tiffany's (get it??) :)

XOXO!

Wednesday Ramblings...

I haven't done a Wednesday Ramblings in a while, but I couldn't think of one specific thing to write about today, so I'm going with it. It's been busy week!

I saw a cute Dallas Cowboys wreath on Pinterest (follow me here) and decided to try and make one myself (yes, despite the pain and suffering the 'Boys cause me, I'm still a fan). For better or for worse, in few precious wins and heart-breaking losses, I'm a fan for life (despite hating Jerry Jones with every fiber of my being).

The pin wasn't linked to a particular blog or website, so I apologize I can't link it back to the original person. Here is the pin I saw. It looked like this person used a Styrofoam wreath, but I used a wooden one instead (I had bought one a few months ago on sale at Michael's). I had bought it for another project, but I gave up on that one. Glad I still had it!

I painted the wreath this "greekstone" color (honestly- the paint was on sale for 99 cents and since it wouldn't really show through anyways, I just went ahead and used it. I used two coats just to be sure it was completed covered.

After letting the spray paint dry, I wrapped the wreath with blue and silver yarn. Due to my busy schedule, there was a week between painting it and wrapping it in yarn, but if you wanted to try this, I'm sure you would just have to wait a day before you started applying the yarn. The spray paint seemed to dry pretty quickly.

I used a hot glue gun to glue down each end of the yarn. I didn't use any glue during the wrapping. Only when I started and finished a color. It seemed to work just fine that way.

I found a package at Hobby Lobby with cute wooden letters and shapes to use for the lettering. I also found an iron on football applique that I was able to just stick on the wreath once I was finished.

I spray painted the letters white, then applied what I call "puffy" paint to give the letters a little decoration. I got both of them at Hobby Lobby (although I'm sure any craft store would have them).

Here is the finished product!

So, on Saturday I went shopping with the BFF. She convinced me that I looked cute in this hat so I went ahead and bought it from T.J. Maxx. Thoughts?

While we were at T.J. Maxx, we saw this really hideous looking sweater (if you own this, I apologize, but I think it's hideous). It was made completely of these sequin type things. No lie. I took a picture because I knew no one would believe me. Check out the price tag on this bad boy. Who in their right mind pays THAT much for ANY sweater?? I like that T.J. Maxx mentioned that this thing normally cost $500. My mind is blown. I could buy a whole new wardrobe at Kohl's for $500.

I picked up some new followers on Twitter this past week. Shameless plug, follow me on Twitter here. Here are two of them.

I've never had a butt follow me before, BUT since it's Luke Bryan's, I'm okay with that!! ;)

Not gonna lie, had a giddy nerd moment when I saw this. If you know me, you know I'm fascinated by tornadoes and tornado chasing. Reed Timmer is a well known tornado chaser who was on the TV show Storm Chasers (I miss it). I had tweeted to him about something and he replied back. Then he started following me. Wonder if he's up for company on his next chase? I'd love to go! :)
So, it seems that I'm now getting spam not only in my email inbox, but my snail mailbox. I got this letter last week. No lie. It was addressed to me. Not sure how I got on the Miss Teen Dallas mailing list, but I would like off of it please.

No, I'm not one of those people who thinks beauty pageants are degrading to women. I just find them boring. I have no interest in them at all.
I guess that's enough ramblings for one day, I hope everyone has a great week!

XOXO!

May the fourth be with you...

Happy Star Wars Day! May the fourth be with you! I'm sorry, I know it's cheesy, but it makes me laugh. And we have established in past posts that I'm a Star Wars nerd. In honor of Star Wars Day, I thought I would post these funny videos I found on YouTube. Someone has taken theme songs to different shows and made "Star Wars intros" with them.

The Star Wars Dallas theme might be my favorite!

Although the A-Team theme is a very, very close second!

The Star Wars Friends theme

Star Wars Hawaii Five-O style

Star Wars as MacGyver

Have a great day!

XOXO!

Wednesday Ramblings...

Thank you to everyone who sent me sweet messages/tweets after my rough day yesterday. I am doing  much better today!  XOXO!

I wanted to start my post today by saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my BFF Mandy! We have been friends for almost 23 years (I still can't believe it's been that long). I was going through a box of  crap junk stuff not too long ago and found all the letters she wrote me in college. Oh yes, real letters. I moved away to go to college so we went from being able to see/talk to each other every day to maybe seeing each other a few times a semester. My freshman year and part of my sophomore year we rotated weeks writing to each other. She would write me one week, and I would call her when I got the letter, and vice-versa. This was back before email was so "popular" (oh yes, I'm that old!) ;) I'm so glad we were able to do that. I loved going back and re-reading some of the stuff we had talked about WAY BACK then (oh the things that seem so "important" to you at 18- **sigh**). I was able to see her last weekend when I went to her baby shower. Since we don't live close to each other anymore, we only see each other a few times a year. But, it seems whenever we get together, it's like no time has passed between our visits. We have SO many memories together, and I'm looking forward to many more! Happy birthday Mandy- Love you! R.E.W.R. (she will be the only person who understands that!) :)

Halloween 1991- our third Halloween to go trick or treating together

At her wedding in 2004

A few years ago in Austin

At her baby shower. Yes, I posted this one Monday too. :)

Okay, moving on for now. So, after forgetting the earphones to my iPod at work yesterday, I had to listen to a CD driving to work today. I know, how "caveman-ish" of me to actually listen to a CD- who does that anymore? ;) I honestly don't keep many in my car, but I found one of my CD books in the backseat. I have no clue how long it's been there because I honestly didn't even know I had it, I just happened to find it  (which is a miracle in itself since my truck is so messy- getting off track, that is a story for another day). So, after flipping through a few pages I found my Matchbox 20 Yourself or Someone Like You CD. I forgot how good that CD was! It took me WAY BACK (it came out either my senior year of high school or my freshman year of college). I forgot that I pretty much like all the songs on it.

I had to share a few videos from Matchbox 20. Man, I LOVE Rob Thomas' voice!!

Wednesday Ramblings

Happy halfway through the week friends! Hope you can keep up with all the stuff running through my head today! :)

First of all, I wanted to let you know about this awesome blog I just discovered: Sweet November. If you love crafts, this is the place to go! They are offering free advertising until they reach 300 followers. Click on the icon below to get more information!

As some of you may remember, I was a huge fan of the TV show LOST. Did you hear  the Mega-Millions winning lottery numbers last night? Four out of the six numbers on the winning lottery ticket were the same numbers as Hugo's winning lottery ticket on LOST (and the same numbers that kept "appearing" throughout the series).
Mega Millions numbers: 4, 8, 15, 25, 47, 42
Lost numbers: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42

The winning lottery ticket on LOST

I'm not familiar with how the lottery works (I personally don't play it), but I believe if you get at least three of the numbers and the mega number right, you win a small amount. I wonder how many LOST fans were still playing those same lottery numbers??

In other ramblings, last week on Twitter (again, follow me here if you would like), I entered Master Card's "Priceless to Me" Tweet of the Week contest. You had to send a tweet and put #pricelesstome in it, and then obviously say something that was priceless to you. Master Card then voted on the best one. Well, I won!! :) I'm supposedly getting my prize sometime this week or next week. I'm not sure what I'm getting, I'll let you know once I get it though! :)

My winning tweet and my notification that I had won!

I've been meaning to post this for a while. I mentioned a while back that I know how to cross stitch. For Christmas I made my sweet friend Jillana a tissue box cover. She loves lighthouses so I picked a lighthouse pattern. I thought I would show y'all a picture of it (a lot of you do "crafty" stuff on your blogs, and I was feeling left out). ;) I didn't mention it while I was working on it since she reads my blog. :) I'm so glad that she likes it! It was fun to make!

My tissue box masterpiece (okay, maybe not masterpiece)

Hope you are all having a fab week! Thanks for all the sweet comments, they have really made my week! And thanks to all of you giving me encouragement either in comments or on Twitter with my 30 Day Shred workout! I appreciate it! :) XOXO!

Wednesday Ramblings

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I enjoyed spending time with my family. I will eventually put up more pictures, I just haven't had time to upload them from my camera yet. Here are a few that I took with my iPhone to hold you over until then!

"E" wearing Aunt Rachel's hat (my friend Monica knitted me the hat for Christmas!)

"C" showing Aunt Rachel some animal from the manger toy set.

My nephew "D" getting a drink of water after church.

I still can't believe that it's almost 2011. Seriously, I don't like that time seems to be speeding up! It just seems like yesterday it was 2000 and I was graduating college. I had all these crazy dreams of being a writer. And I looked so young. **sigh** Where does the time go?

May 2000. Yes I had very blonde hair back then. Moving on...

Speaking of the New Year, I'll probably post a few New Year's Resolutions in the next few days. As well my "Year in Review: 2010". I just work half a day tomorrow and I'm off work on Friday, so maybe I'll finally find time to devote to my blog. Or honestly, I might watch the NCIS marathon on USA (you know my weakness for crime shows- and my nerd/geek crush on Sean Murray-AKA Special Agent Tim McGee). ;)

The geeky, yet adorable, Sean Murray

Part of me knows I should spend either Thursday or Friday taking down my Christmas decorations, but it's so depressing for me to do that. But at the same time, I know if I don't do it now, I won't have time later. I just need to get it over with. January is a pretty busy month for me, I don't have many free weekends. I have a luncheon with some former college roommates, a baby shower for my BFF in Austin, and the Rangers Fanfest (it's a two day event this year!) Oh yes my friends, 94 days and counting until Opening Day. And 48 days until Spring Training! Wahoo!

So, speaking of baseball, and in honor of C.J. Wilson's intro song making it to the final four of the "Ben and Skin's Year End Audio Recap"*, I leave you today with a soundbite of it. It's a catchy tune, they play it whenever C.J. is on the air (or on days when he pitches in the post season). Laugh at me if you must, but it can make me smile even when I'm having a bad day. :)

*Ben and Skin is a sports talk show that airs on 103.3FM ESPN in Dallas weekdays 9-noon (CST). I love these guys. Even if you don't live in Dallas, you can listen to them online. Go here. They make me laugh!! :)

Encouragement for 2011
God is for you.
God loves you.
God will guide you.
God will not fail you.
God will be with you.
God will provide for you.
God will bless you.
God will give you rest.
God will strengthen you.
God will answer you.
God will uphold you.
God will keep you.

Wednesday Ramblings...

First of all, today is my anniversary. One year ago today I decided to start a blog. I didn't know what it would be like. I didn't know what I would talk about. I didn't think that anyone outside of my family or close circle of friends would ever read it. But here, 365 days later, I have 132 followers and have made some great new friends through this blogging world. Thank you so much for reading my blog, it really means a lot to me! Thank you for putting up with my obsession of baseball (mainly the Texas Rangers), Chick Fil A,  books, Shemar Moore (sigh) and crime shows. If you would like to go back to the beginning where it all started, here are the first few posts of my blog here.

I had planned to talk today about the evilness of the $1 bins at Target, but I can't focus on anything else right now (sorry). I'm too excited. You've been putting up with me talking about the Rangers since February, you can last a while longer, right?? Right? Still with me? Great!! Last night the Texas Rangers made history. They finally won a playoff series. I know, some of you are thinking, "so what, big deal. It's the first round, not the World Series." It is a big deal. It is a big deal to long time Rangers fans such as myself. Fans who have suffered through seasons where we lost 80 games. Fans who have listened to the national media call your team a joke (I'm looking at you ESPN). Fans who wouldn't be able to hear any Rangers talk on local sports radio after the end of July due to the Cowboys training camp starting up. Until 10:17 CST last night, the Texas Rangers were the only active franchise in major league baseball that had never won a post-season series. That is no longer the case. The Rangers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-1 in Game 5 to advance to the American League Championship Series. We are loving it! The winner of this series advances to the World Series.

Screenshot of ESPN (dot) com. Cliff Lee (front) pitched a complete game for the Rangers. He is awesome.

For those not familiar with how baseball teams celebrate a playoff series win, they drench each other with champagne and beer in the locker room (It doesn't sound appealing to me at all. Why would you want to smell all sweaty and like alcohol? But that is just me). Anyways, as you can tell from the above picture, the Rangers ended up doing just that. But, they didn't start with champagne. Outfielder Josh Hamilton has battled back from drug and alcohol abuse, and to show respect for him, and to show how much he means to them, the team had a "Ginger Ale" showering just for him. He was able to celebrate with his teammates before slipping out when the alcohol was brought out. I thought that was neat. Josh didn't ask them to do that, in fact, he didn't even know until he went into the locker room it was planned. I love this team and how they look out for each other! They are truly a family. Rangers pitcher C.J. Wilson doesn't drink and tries to avoid alcohol as well. He helped set it up for Josh. Thank you C.J.!

To see video of the Ginger Ale soaking, click here. It also has an interview with Josh and  later, his wife Katie. I love how Josh tells reporters he has to give all the glory to God. You are a class act Josh. Thank you!

Josh Hamilton (r) being congratulated after the game.

Continuing on with my baseball theme, last weekend I went to my first MLB playoff game. And on Friday, night I'm going to my second one! I'm so excited!! I wanted to end my post today by sharing a few pictures from last Saturday's game!

Tailgating before the game in the Six Flags parking lot (it's next door to The Ballpark).

The American League Division Series logo on the field

Me and my Bubba at our first MLB playoff game! Yes, I made a sign.

Guess who got her first official major league baseball during batting practice?? :)

Wednesday Ramblings

I see this a lot on Facebook: "I'm recording insert name of TV show/ballgame here. Please don't post any spoilers." Now, on one hand, I understand that. I hate when I record something and I find out how it ends before I can watch it. But on the other hand, if you don't want spoilers, should you really be ONLINE? Sure, fifteen years ago you could get away with recording a ballgame or TV show and be able to watch it without knowing the outcome (as long as you didn't talk to anyone). But today, with everything from Facebook to Twitter to blogs to smart phones, you could be walking to your car and some 12 year old with an iPhone could announce the outcome of a game you are recording. I thought about that today when I announced to pretty much everyone on the 5th floor of "the big pink building" (what I call my office) that the Rangers had won their game. After I said it, I was like, oops, hope no one was recording it. But everyone in my department  knows I'm a Rangers fan (and that I would be following it) so I assumed if they didn't want to know, they would have told me earlier not to announce any score. :) My sweet boss gave me her radio so I could listen to the game at my desk (how cool is that). I had people emailing me all afternoon for updates on the game. Sorry, I really thought I would write a post and not mention the Rangers. One of these days you'll get through a post of mine Rangers free! I promise!

Anyways, back to my topic on spoilers. So, at what point can you stop saying "spoiler alert" for movies? Six month after a movie comes out? A year? Two years? Some friends and I were talking about the movie The Sixth Sense recently and someone in our group mentioned they hadn't seen it (of course they mentioned that AFTER we had ruined the ending).  Now, this movie came out in 1999. ELEVEN years ago. Is a "spoiler alert" necessary? I figure if you haven't seen the movie by now, you really have no interest. I know, you are wondering if this train of thought has a caboose (fits in perfectly with my rambling title today, doesn't it?) I'm just curious what other people think. Should you not post the final score of a game or the ending of a TV show on your Facebook page because someone might not have seen it? Should it be their responsibility to just stay offline until they watch it? At what point can you talk about a movie and not feel the need to say, "oh spoiler alert" just in case someone hasn't seen it? Comment, email, tweet. I'm curious what you think! :)

Yes folks, that is what is going through my head today.  My mind is a scary place to be sometimes. Actually, most of the time! Oh, real quick, I want to thank everyone for the sweet  and encouraging comments, emails, tweets and Facebook messages over the past few days. I am having a better day and hopefully my week is looking up. Y'all make me smile!! **hugs**

**Spoiler Alerts** (just to be on the safe side)

-Darth Vader is Luke's father (The Empire Strikes Back)
-Bruce Willis is dead (The Sixth Sense)
-Dil is a man (The Crying Game)
-The boat sinks (Titanic)
-Soylent Green is people! (Soylent Green)
-He was on earth all along (Planet of the Apes)
-Rosebud is a sled (Citizen Kane)
-They shoot the dog at the end (Old Yeller)

Wednesday Ramblings and Blog Journal Day 22

I'm going to be honest. I haven't had the best week. Work has been, well, quite a bear to tell you the truth. I try not to complain too much about work issues (because let's face it, in this economy, I'm happy to have a job). But seriously, the past week it just seems like everyday has been a "Monday".  Thankfully, it's not just me (I know, it's a horrible thing to say, but I'm glad that I'm not alone in my suffering of a bad week). Through Facebook and Twitter status updates, it seems a lot of my friends are having a week of "The Mondays". I'm hoping it ends soon. I'm starting to feel like Eeyore!

On top of the bad week, my allergies have gone haywire (again). I have a doctor's appointment on Friday afternoon, so hopefully I can get something then that will help me out. Benadryl is nice, but I can only take it a night. Does anyone else get the Benadryl hangover the next day? I have some friends that get really hyper off of Benadryl. Not me. It knocks me out. Then the next day I'm in a "fog". **sigh**

Now to be fair, my week hasn't been all bad. A friend of mine had preseason tickets to the Stars hockey game last night, so we went to that. And he was very sweet and treated me to dinner first. We ate at a wonderful Italian restaurant (have I mentioned I love Italian food?) I'm pretty sure I gained 20 pounds, between the appetizer, spaghetti AND pizza. Oh yes, I was quite the little piggy). The food was amazing (and I had leftovers for lunch today). My friend's season tickets are three rows back from the ice, so we had the following view. I'm spoiled for life now! My regular nose bleed section tickets will never measure up! :)

Number 10 is Brenden Morrow, he's the Stars team captain. One of my hockey crushes- just don't tell my friend Bekah! ;)

Yes, I like hockey too. I promise I won't talk about it as much as I do baseball, but I might mention it here and there. Speaking of baseball, the Rangers sure know how to toy with my emotions. Sheesh, they've lost three in a row and are only 7 games up in first place now in the AL West. Can we please just clinch this bad boy and get it over with so I can get some sleep at night? Hopefully C.J. Wilson will show me tonight that he does love me and pitch a good game. And hopefully the team will give him some run support. Their hitting/scoring the past few games has been P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C. And we still won't know for another day or two if Josh Hamilton will be 100% by the end of the season or not. I don't even want to think about it. I'm too nervous. Yes, I get too emotionally involved in baseball, I can't help it. Blame my Bubba! :)

C.J. Wilson, pitcher for the Rangers. He's my on-again-off-again baseball crush, I can't make up my mind! :) I seem to have a "thing" for pitchers though! ;) (See past posts about Steve Avery)

Josh Hamilton- the Rangers MVP (most valuable player). He's one of my favorites! Love him!

Oh wait, I was concentrating on the positive stuff from my week. Sorry about that!  My A.D.D. kicked in. :) Another "pick me up" this week has been from you guys. No, I'm serious! I absolutely love the sweet comments (or emails) y'all leave me. Is it sad that I get all giddy when I see I have a new comment? I'm like, "oh, they love me enough to comment! I feel so special!" :) Thanks guys, seriously, y'all have made my bad week better by showing me some love! : ) Love you guys! Hugs to all of you!! :)

I'm hoping the next two days can go by fast. I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend (yes, can you believe it. I'm not overbooked). Besides a birthday dinner for a sweet friend on Saturday night, and then a movie afterwards, my weekend is going to be pretty lazy. I think I've earned it! ;) My next few weekends are packed so I need to rest up! :)

Day 22: A website
I was trying to think of a funny website to lighten up the week some (and one that wasn't sports related, I'm sure some of you get tired of the sports talk). I'm going to list two. These always have pictures that make me laugh. They are called Stuff on My Mutt and Stuff on My Cat (click on the name to go to the link). You will see the cutest/funniest pictures that people have uploaded of their pets. I know some people are more of a "dog person" than "cat person" or vice versa, so I wanted to be fair. I'm listing both of them!

Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings. As always, we are halfway through the work week (can I get an AMEN??) Make it a good one friends!

:)

Wednesday Rambings and Blog Post Day 15

My post will be shorter than usual. I promise to get back to my normal rambling tomorrow.

Day 15: Your dream house

I can say as long as I am happily married, any house would be my dream house (which is true), but I figured to have a little fun (and be materialistic for a  moment). :)

I like houses with a front porch that goes around to the side. Kind of like this one.

I'm not known for my cooking, but I would like a kitchen bigger than the one I have. I saw this one online and thought it looked nice. I also love the arches! I also like how open it is.

I'm a bubble bath girl so I would love a big bathtub. Ah, Calgon, take me away!! I also like the separate showers. Kinda of like this.

I could go on but I'm pressed for time today. Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Wednesday Ramblings and Blog Journal Day 8

Once again, I seek your help in trying to get votes for a Rangers player. Rangers third baseman Michael Young has been nominated for the 2010 Roberto Clemente Award. If you wouldn't mind,  could you please vote for him here? It's very easy, and you could win a trip to the 2010 World Series. If you aren't a baseball fan, I'll be more than happy to take the tickets if you end up winning! ;)

Michael Young- great guy, please vote for him!! :)

So, thanks to Tropical Storm Hermine, we've seen pretty much non stop rainfall  here in Dallas the past two days (some of it VERY heavy). I thought I saw animals lining up two my two outside my office earlier. I've started singing "The Arky Arky Song". For those of you who didn't grow up in a Children Church Choir, here are some of the lyrics (click HERE for full lyrics).

 The Lord told Noah
To build him an arky, arky
 The Lord told Noah
To build him an arky, arky
Build it out of gopher barky, barky
 Children of the Lord

Chorus:
  Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
 Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
 Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
 Children of the Lord

 He called for the animals,
They came in by twosie, twosies
 He called for the animals,
They came in by twosie, twosies
 Elephants and kangaroosie, roosies
 Children of the Lord

Chorus

 It rained and it poured
 For forty daysie, daysies
 It rained and it poured
 For forty daysie, daysies
Almost drove those animals crazy, crazies,
 Children of the Lord

Chorus

So, I'm kinda bummed that tonight is the summer finale of the show Psych. This season has been so good so far, I can't wait for the next half of it! :) For the official Twitter page of Psych, go here. They are great!

Day 8: A photo that makes you sad:

Any picture or video from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital makes me sad. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a great place. It just breaks my heart to know that young children are suffering from such awful diseases and need a place like St. Jude's to go to. For more info on St. Jude's, please go here.

I just saw on Twitter that on September 27, Chili's is donating 100% of their proceeds to St. Jude. So, if you have been waiting for a night to go out and eat, I think that is a great day to plan for it! Go here for more details!

We are halfway through the week!! Make it a good one!

Wednesday Ramblings and Blog Journal Day 1

If you love to read, and if you love baseball, then you have to read The Bullpen Gospels by Dirk Hayhurst. Actually, even if you don't like baseball, I think you will enjoy this book. Dirk tells the story of  the not so glamorous life of being in the minor leagues. There were parts where I laughed so hard I cried, and cried so hard I laughed. I literally couldn't put it down!

Note: Due to language and somewhat crude humor (hey, it has conversations that took place in a guys' locker room, what did you expect?), this book may not suitable for children. Or my parents. ;)

Okay, so several of my blogging friends have been doing this, so I'm jumping on the band wagon and joining in as well. It's a 30 day blog journal with a different question each day. Day 1: Favorite Song:
I'm not sure I could pick just ONE. I'll list a few (it's okay to do that, my other friends have!) ;)

Consuming Fire by Third Day (going old school- it's off their first CD!)

Give You Glory by Jeremy Camp (click on the name to go to the video, it wouldn't let me embed it here).

And finally, my friend Jenna over at Legally Brunette is starting (back) up Who and Why Wednesday. I thought I would participate!

1. Who is the better America's Sweetheart?
Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock

I'm going to go with Sandra Bullock. I like her better than Julia Roberts!

2. Who would you rather get fashion advice from?
Stacy London or Tyra Banks

I've only watched Stacy's show so I'm not sure. I know that Stacy can be kinda harsh, so maybe I should go with Tyra. Although she might be mean too. If I could get free clothes out of the deal, I really don't care who gives me the advice!! :)

3. Whose show would you rather be on?
Oprah or The View

I don't watch either so I'm going to say neither show. I'm not the biggest fan of talk shows.

4. Which vampire would you rather date?
Edward Cullen or Bill Compton

I had to Google who Bill Compton was (I haven't read that series). Now, I'm a fan of the Twilight series, but if I had to choose a vampire from there, it would be Jasper Hale. (see below) ;) He's a Texas boy and has that southern gentleman thing going for him!

5. Which Hollywood heart-throb would you rather go to dinner with?
Brad Pitt or Matthew McConaughey

Neither one of these guys are necessarily my personal pick for heart-throb, but if I had to choose between them I would take Matthew McConaughey. Mainly because he's a Texas boy, we might have more to talk about (I know he likes football). And he looks better shirtless (hey, I had to put a why, so that's my why!) ;)

You made it through my very long edition of Wednesday Ramblings!! Thanks for hanging in there with me!

Have a great day!! :)
