What I've Been Up To, Part 1

First of all, thanks for all the feedback on my post yesterday. I appreciate the honest responses. I am definitely going to take your advice into consideration (most of you said about the same thing).

I mentioned yesterday that I had a ton of pictures to share with y'all to show you what I've been doing the past month. There is so much to share, so I'll break it into two posts so I don't overwhelm you.

First of all, earlier this month my folks came up for a weekend visit. We went to a Rangers game (of course) and toured the George W. Bush Library at SMU. This makes two presidential libraries that I have visited this year, and makes three total for my lifetime. I went to LBJ's Library when I was younger, I should probably go back since I don't remember much about it.

Anyways, for my folks anniversary, I had these Rangers T-shirts made for them. They proudly wore them at the game.
I tweeted a picture to the Rangers official Twitter page and they sent a response, I thought it was pretty cool.

My friend Chance was at the game as well, so he found an empty seat by me and my folks and joined us for a while.

He is one of my favorites to spend time with! :)
Just a few of the many pictures I took at the Bush Library. I liked his cowboy boots. Bush was once owner of the Texas Rangers.
I also took a road trip down to San Antonio this past month to see my friends Julie and Steve. I hadn't seen them in over 11 years (we went to college together). While I was there, we visited the Fort Sam Houston Quadrangle. Julie and I had a great day there with their daughter Miss E (Steve had to work). The Quadrangle was neat, it had birds, deer, and ducks walking around. They were use to humans being there because we got pretty close to them. I think they wanted us to have food to give them. I tried to convince one of the peacocks to give me a feather, but he would agree. Silly bird.

I didn't use the zoom on any of these pictures, this is how close we were.
I have a fear of birds so I was a little hesitant to get this close to a peacock. If you have ever seen Alfred Hitchcock's movie The Birds, you will understand my fear.
It was a great few days hanging out with them. So glad I got to see them. I told them we cannot wait 11 years before our next visit!

Miss E and I were testing out the new filters on the iOS7 update. :)
On my way back from San Antonio, I made a quick stop in Austin that Friday to see some of my besties.

Me and Mandy (the original BFF as I call her). 25 years of friendship in this picture. :)
Miss E didn't want Aunt Rachel to leave. She's so sweet!
As most of you know, the Rangers were eliminated from going to the playoffs. Yes, I'm okay. I will not sink into a deep depression (at least I don't think I will). Here is what I posted on Facebook last night.
I'll post the the last of my baseball season pictures tomorrow. There are a lot of them! Hope to catch up on some of my blog reading soon. I know I'm like a month behind with some of you (sorry about that!!)

XOXO!

  1. Hello Rachel. I am so glad to know you through your profile on the blogger. I am also glad to stop by your blog " Randomness with Rachel" and the post on it" What I have been up to Part-1". I am so glad to read the verse from Jeremiah 29:11 a promise on which you bank on. What a beautiful verse it is. I so often preached to the young people on this verse. It is so good to see your day to days life reflected through your beautiful pictures. It is good to know your parents too. Well Rachel I have an opportunity for you which I could have shared on your email but I take this time to share how you can get involved in the ministry where God's heart is. I am in the Pastoral ministry for last 33 yrs in the great city of Mumbai a city with great contrast where richest of rich and the poorest of poor live. We reach out to the poorest of poor with the love of Christ to bring healing to the broken hearted. we also encourage young people like you as well as adults to come to Mumbai, India to work with us in the slums of Mumbai by being hands and feet of Jesus to bring good news to the poor and heal their wounds. We would love to have you come with your friends on a short term missions trip to work with. I am sure you will never be the same. My email id is: dhwankhede(at)gmail(dot)com and my name is Diwakar Wankhede. I will since your email id is there I can make use of your email id too if you prayerfully think of missions trip. WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.
