It's Friday! Can I Get an Amen?

First of all, I wanted to let y'all know I created a "fan" page for my blog on Facebook. If you are interested in "liking" it, please go here (or search Randomness With Rachel). For those of you who have asked, if you "like" my page, I cannot see the information on your profile (unless you don't have it set to private).

Second of all, can I just say I'm so glad it's Friday. Good grief, what a week. I'm too excited that it's Friday to go into all the gory details of my week, but man, I'm glad it's the weekend. Do you have big plans? Anyone who lives in the Dallas area knows where I'll be this weekend: Rangers Fanfest. Oh yes my friends. Baseball season is around the corner (okay, it's still 70 days away-but it's getting closer). If you want to read of my adventures at last year's Fanfest, go here. You can bet that next week I will bore enlighten thrill bombard you with my adventures of Fanfest this year. It's supposed to be bigger and better. Wahoo!!

1. Where did you meet your spouse...
Okay, I'm not even writing that whole question out. I have yet to meet him. Although I'm 81.4 percent sure that Zachary Levi (from Chuck) is my soul mate (I have mentioned this on my blog before, many times in fact). ;)

He's so adorkable!

2. What is your favorite room in your house?
Probably my loft. I have a two story apartment. I have an upstairs room that I use as my sports memorabilia/craft room/storage for my rarely used pilates equipment. I love it! Yes, I know, I have a lot of Spurs stuff. I have mentioned before that I use to live in San Antonio. I also grew up hearing my dad and brothers cheer for them (my folks are from San Antonio). Don't worry Mavs friends, I like the Mavs too (even though I've been told that is a NBA sin- whatever!) ;)

3. Can you wiggle your ears?
Um, no. Can you?

4. What is your evening ritual?
It all depends on if I go out after work. The one thing that stays the same is that right before I got to bed, I wash my face, brush my teeth, read my Bible and then put in my mouth guard. Yeah, I grind my teeth in my sleep. My dentist has been yelling at me to make sure I wear my mouth guard at night. Can I just say it's the most unattractive thing ever? No, I won't take a picture of me wearing it! This is as close as you'll get!

5. How many hours of sleep do you need a night to function?
I aim for 8, but that rarely happens. I try and get anywhere from 6-7 hours, but that's only on a good night. I have had sleeping issues my whole life where I wake up during the night A LOT. Let's just say I'm very familiar with what is on TV between the hours of 2-6am. :(

And lastly, yesterday I received a Christmas present in the mail from my sweet friend Jillana. I LOVE this. I think I'm going to keep it out all year long!! :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Take some time and head over to For The Love of Blogs and meet some new friends today!!

So Glad It's Friday and Blog Journal Day 24!

I'm so glad that it's Friday. It's my half day at work, so I'm outta here at 11:30. Besides a doctor's appointment at 1:30, I can relax at home and do absolutely nothing for the rest of the day/evening. Yippee! I'm looking forward to the weekend and hoping it can erase this awful week that I've had.

1. If you could speak with a different accent, what would it be? (British, Australian, Scottish, etc?)
I've never thought about it. I like the Australian accent (I could listen to Hugh Jackman talk all day long. Okay, I could also look at him talk all day long). ;) Maybe I would go with that one!

2. Can you fall asleep anywhere?
Yes. When I was working for a newspaper, I had to cover city council meetings. Anyone who has ever been to a city council meeting knows how boring those can get. One time I fell asleep in my chair. THANKFULLY, I was sitting in the back, so I don't think anyone really noticed. I was maybe asleep 15 or 20 minutes before I woke up. Also, one time when I was younger, I was at my best friend Mandy's house and I fell asleep on her floor.

3. Do you use public restrooms?
Obviously there are times when I have to use them (especially since I go to a lot of sporting events). But I'm very picky about ones I will use. The ones at The Ballpark and the American Airlines Center (home of the Dallas Stars and Dallas Mavericks) are pretty clean (for a public restroom). If I'm on a road trip, I prefer to stop at a fast food place instead of a gas station. I just feel that fast food places clean their restrooms more often than a gas station. I am a firm believer in never touching the door handle of a public bathroom though. I've seen too many people walk out without washing their hands (I know, it's gross). I always use a paper towel to open it!

4. If you were stuck in an elevator for 24 hours, what celebrity would you most want to be stuck with?
Oh my. I would say Shemar Moore, but I can't swear that I would behave myself! ;)

I think I'll go with Zachary Levi. Maybe 24 hours would be enough time to convince him he's my soul mate. If all else fails, at least he could make me laugh and forget that I was stuck on an elevator!

5. Where did you and your significant other go on your first date?
Since I'm single right now, this doesn't apply to me. But if I ever get stuck on an elevator with Zachary Levi, I might have a more interesting answer next time! ;)

Day 24: Where I live
I live in Dallas, Texas. I LOVE it here. I've only been here for 6 years and feel more at "home" here than where I grew up. No matter what your interests are (sports, art, theater, history, good food, etc), we have it all!! :) We are also home to the great State Fair of Texas (which kicked off today!) :)

The Ballpark in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers

The American Airlines Center (aka the AAC), home of the Dallas Stars and Dallas Mavericks

A view of downtown

Dallas Museum of Art

The Dallas Aquarium

The Ferris Wheel at the State Fair is the largest one in North America!

Fair Park Music Hall

Winspear Opera House

House of Blues

Hard Rock Cafe (the new one)

The Dallas Zoo

The Sixth Floor Museum (formerly the Texas School Book Depository)

This Italian restaurant is so good! I ate there for the first time on Tuesday!

The salsa here is pretty awesome!!

Serving Dallas for almost 30 years!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!! Happy Friday!!

Wednesday Ramblings...

After having Monday off work, my week is thrown off a bit (I'm not complaining though). I forgot that it was Wednesday already! And even better, my flex day this month is Thursday, so I only work 3.5 hours tomorrow. Wahoo!

I give you another installment of my Wednesday Ramblings. I've had a great week so far (and not just because it's been a short work week and I got to go to Opening Day. And not because I'm going to another Rangers game tomorrow...and also on Saturday. Oh yes, I take my baseball VERY seriously!) :) It's been a week of smiles and laughs so far, so I'd like to continue that theme here.

So, in no particular order....more things that make me smile/laugh/giggle like a school girl.

First of all, this picture of me and my sweet little great-nephew makes me smile. He is so precious!! I got to spend time with him last weekend. Yes, I said great-nephew. For those who don't know me, I have nieces and nephews close to my age, and some of them are married and have children. I am a great-aunt. :)

Another Pearls Before Swine that I like:

Okay, I promise to one day NOT mention baseball in a blog post. It's not going to be today though (obviously). My friend Nathan posted this on his Facebook page earlier today. It stars baseball players Ian Kinsler (of the Texas Rangers) and Prince Fielder (of the Milwaukee Brewers) as well as actor Adam Scott.  I **heart** you Ian!! :)

For those who have never seen the USA network show Psych, you are missing out. It is Hi-lar-i-ous. Oh yes, that funny! I love Shawn and Gus!!

This week I was introduced to a new "nerd crush". Zachary Levi (star of the TV show Chuck, which I now am going to start watching), was a guest star on The Bonnie Hunt Show. A-DOR-A-BLE! His whole interview made me laugh!! Here is part 1 of that interview:

I know, I know, I'm a nerd, I can't help it!

Have a great one!!
