NKOTBSB Recap

I know, I know, y'all have been anxiously awaiting my recap of the NKOTBSB concert for over a week now. I'm so sorry, work was crazy busy last week and this past weekend I didn't turn on my computer once (it was nice to have that break from the internet, it really was). I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July. Many thanks to all the men and women who have served, are serving and will serve our country. God bless you!

And now, **drum roll please**, my NKOTBSB concert recap.
I went to the concert with my friends Mel and Monica. It was an interesting crowd. You had people about our age, some a little older (who were probably teenagers/early 20s when New Kids on the Block were popular) and then you had the younger crowd who were probably mainly Backstreet Boys fans. The opening acts were okay, one was a girl I had never heard of (sorry, don't remember her name, but her outfit was awful) and the other was some girl named Jordin Sparks. I don't watch American Idol but supposedly this girl won it a few years ago. I had no clue who she was.

Then, finally, the moment my 12 year old self had been waiting 21 years for- New Kids on the Block (well, and The Backstreet Boys), took the stage. They started out performing a song all together, then they would alternate between groups, each singing some of their most popular songs. Oh, and yes, there was dancing. Be still my 12 year old heart! Granted, some of the dance moves weren't as, how do I put this nicely...um vigorous or energetic as they once were. I mean, they aren't the same 18-19-20 year olds they were back then! And yes, we all waved our arms in the air during "Hangin' Tough". Ah, take me back to 1989!

I thought the encore was cool- they all came out on stage wearing Mavs jerseys. They did give shout outs to the Mavs for winning the NBA championship throughout the concert. I took a lot of pictures, but I'm going to spare you and only show a few!
Me and my fellow NKOTB fan homegirls!
Me trying to get Monica to do a serious face. She was trying not to laugh.
Me and Mel- yes, she was sporting some of her old school NKOTB pins! :)
Yes, we were way up there, but still, we made it!

Here is a video I took from my phone during a Backstreet Boys song. This is for my sister- she's a big fan of theirs! ;)

So, earlier that day my friend Trish posted on Twitter that her friend could get her into the after party with Jordan Knight and Donnie Wahlberg. I sent her a message asking if she could get me in (I was half kidding, I never expected her to be able to). She replied back saying she could put my name on the list to get us into the after party. So, after the concert we headed to the Ghost Bar (which is located on the 33rd floor of the W Hotel, across from the AAC). I went up to the guy at the front of this very long line and said my name was on the list. He found me and two guests listed, so he pulled back the rope for us to go in. I felt so important, people were looking at us like trying to figure out who we were! I felt like doing a small wave, but I didn't. It was so crowded in the Ghost Bar, but we met up with Trish, and had fun hanging out.

Big shout out to the lovely Trish for hooking us up!
Joey made a surprise appearance (I didn't know he would be there) and he and Donnie started singing on this "stage" area. It was kinda dark (after all, it's a bar), so the pictures aren't great, but still, it was a lot of fun. I pushed made my way as close to the stage as I could. Jordan later joined them on stage after he was done meeting with his fan club (who paid $75 each to meet him).

Jordan on stage (this picture was taken for my friend Leaneth). :)

Donnie, Joey (sigh) and Jordan

Joey leaving the party. It was hard to get a good picture because people were pushing me (and I was using my phone), but still, that's him! Be still my 12 year old heart! FYI, he still looked pretty hot!

A blurry picture of Jordan, but I included it because this was moments before he leaned over and hugged me. Yes, you read that right, Jordan Knight hugged me. ;)

Jordan mingling with the crowd (security was NOT too happy he did this!)

Donnie telling everyone to be careful driving home. Picture stolen from courtesy of my friend Mel's Facebook page.

A very blurry picture of me and Donnie Wahlberg. He gave me a hug and I asked for a picture with him. Again, this was taken with a phone in a dark room, plus people were pushing me. Oh well. Not like it was with Joey! ;) I did notice that I was taller than him, I had to "lean down" for the picture.
Some short videoes I took from my phone during the after party.

I hope you enjoyed the "little" wrap up. Yes, I would totally go to another concert if New Kids on the Block were back in town! I might even go see the Backstreet Boys too (I didn't realize how hot Nick Carter had become)! ;)

Thanks for all the emails, tweets, etc asking where I was, I feel loved! Hopefully life will be slower this week. Have a great day!

XOXO!!

  2. Be still my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing!!! Oh how I crushed on Joey back in the day, and it seemed in the picture he didn't look to bad! Getting on the VIP list to get into that club was so wicked awesome! I am so jealous! They are coming to OH, but I don't have anyone that would go with me. Steve looked at me like I was nuts when I asked him. haha, it was worth trying. If you lived closer, I know for sure who I'd bring :)
