Pink Heart Funds

If you have been following my blog for a while, you know that I have been growing out my hair in order to donate it to a charity that makes wigs for cancer patients (or any other illness that causes hair loss). This past Saturday I finally went in and had my hair cut. I'm donating my ponytail to Pink Heart Funds (please click here to go to their website). They provide wigs to patients free of charge (there are other charities that charge patients for the wigs). One of the reasons I went with Pink Heart Funds is because the patient gets the wig free of charge.

Pink Heart Funds requires that your ponytail be at least 8 inches long, I was able to donate just over 9 inches. My hair is now shorter than it has been in a long time, but I like it. It's a lot cooler (seeing that it's been 100+ degrees for almost three weeks now.) And, I went from spending 45-50 minutes drying/straightening my hair to only taking 15 minutes. That is REALLY nice!

Here are some pictures of my adventures!

Hope everyone has a great week!!

  1. I wish I knew about this place when Meme went through her treatment... Her wigs were $300+!!

  2. Rachel... I applaud you for doing such a noble thing. I have a lot of respect for you for being so charitable and generous. And I LOVE the new look for you! :)

  3. What a great cause! And I like the shorter, newer, cooler cut. You can always grow it again for your COLD winters. ;-)

  4. Wow, you are awesome, girl! I love that you did that!!! I also applaud you!! What a great cause - and they get the wigs free of charge - wonderful!!! You are such an inspiration!! xxx

  5. Your hair looks amazing! I seriously love it! Lets take it out on the town for a night out ...yes!

  6. Love your new hair do! Super cute, and good for you for donating. I want to do that too. I've never heard of this organization though. I was going to do Locks of Love, but I'll look into this one :)

  7. Have I told you lately how incredible you are? I LOVE that you did this! What an amazing cause!

  8. Love the new haircut. If I could stand to let mine grow out long enough to donate, I totally would. Good for you!!

  9. Cute!! It's so funny to see your hair in a ponytail like that!

  10. You look cute with your new hair!
