Soul Sistas!

**I dedicate this post to my good friend Katherine. Soul sistas rule!** : )

Last Saturday was a historical day for many reasons. The first World Series game at The Ballpark was held. The Rangers won their first World Series game. I got to attend my first World Series game. But it also marked the day that "the soul sistas" met face to face for the first time.

Back in January of 2009 a friend of mine sent an email to me and copied his wife and another friend of his. You  know how if you send an email and you hit "reply all", it goes to everyone? Well, after a few "reply all" emails, my friend "introduced" his friend Katherine to us. My friend, his wife and myself had all once worked at the place that I refer to as "The Evil Place". At that time, Katherine was still working there (so we were all sharing "horror" stories of the evilness that lurks there). I know I have the email saved somewhere (I will spare you all the details), but somehow the conversation turned to Christian Bale and his role in the movie Newsies (yeah, I know, we are really random- I don't even remember how we got on the subject of Christian Bale). With the exception of a few close friends from my childhood, I have had a hard time finding anyone else who had not only seen that movie, but loved it (I found it on DVD recently- I now own it!)

So anyways, after a discussion of Newsies (and how cute Christian Bale was in that movie **insert teenage girl sigh here**), Katherine joked that we were soul sistas (which is where our nicknames came from). Despite living in the same town, we never got a chance to meet in person. Her husband got a new job, so they had to move out of state last year. We remained email and Facebook friends since then (if you hear that you can never be good friends with someone you have never met in person, that is so not true). Anyways, a few weeks ago she sent me a message that she and her husband had gotten tickets to game 3 of the World Series (the same game I was going to). A soul sista meeting was set up. My friend Beks (who also knew Katherine only through email and Facebook) was also there. I promised I would share pictures of the historical meeting!

After taking a break, I'm back to participating in Five Question Friday!

1. If you could have any talent and turn it into an occupation, what would it be?

I would say writing. I would love to be an author. I love to write (hence why I started a blog). I'm still amazed that people outside of my family (and people I don't have blackmail on) read my blog. Most of the time it's random stuff I'm sure you could care less about, but you take the time to read it. I love y'all for that. I would really love to write a book. My friend Tina and I thought about writing a book together (we got the plot, characters, etc, but we haven't gotten much further than that). I have a lot of book ideas, I can just never get motivated to start one. Maybe one day...I'll keep y'all posted.

2. Would you rather have a house on the beach or a cabin in the woods?
Probably neither, but if I had to pick one, I would say a house on the beach. Sure, a beach house sounds all fun and stuff, but I watch a lot of the Weather Channel. I have seen what a hurricane can do to a beach house. A cabin in the woods just seems too secluded. I've seen too many horror movies where the girl is in the woods and the guy in the hockey mask (or guy with knives for fingers) kills her. My over active imagination would do me in!

3. Is there any meaning or reasoning for the names you chose for your child/children?
Well, I don't have kids yet so I can't really answer this one. But I'm leaning towards the name Avery for a girl (yes, my daughter will have to live with the fact she was named after a baseball player).

4. What is your guilty pleasure?
Sometimes when I'm having trouble falling asleep, I watch those cheesy shows on The Disney Channel. **hanging head in shame**

5. Do you live in a house that is deep cleaned or straightened?
HA HA HA HA!!! Um...no. I'm not a slob by any means, I just have a small apartment and a lot of stuff.

Happy Friday my friends!

:)

  6. Love your soul sista moment--those are always wonderful.

About beach houses... you need to get one on a different coast than you're used to thinking about... try the Pacific Northwest. We have storms and rain and all that good stuff, but very very few hurricanes/monsoons, etc. Just a thought...

I thought of you a lot during the World Series... didn't make me watch it anymore than usual (not at all), but still, I thought of you. That counts for something, right?!
