Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge- Day 3

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge

Day 3: What do you do for Halloween?/A Halloween memory.

I haven't really done anything for Halloween in the past few years except maybe watch some horror movies, but that was about it. For a while a good friend of mine and her husband used to have a costume party at their house, but they haven't done that in a while.

First year I went as a Go-Go dancer. I wish you could see the boots in this picture, they were awesome! Yes, I still have them!
The year after that I was a cowgirl.

The last year they had it I was a Girls Gone Wild contestant. Under my skirt I had on black shorts. I also had a sign that read "censored". I may or may not have gone around all night lifting my skirt "flashing" people.
When I was younger, my best friend and I used to go trick-or-treating with her sisters and another good friend of ours. It was a lot of fun!

I'm the cat!

I'm loving... The number 4. Rangers fans know what I mean when I say that!

I'm loving... That my friend Katie will be visiting in less than a month!!

I'm loving... Pinterest. Yes, I mentioned this yesterday, but my word, this website is addictive. I'm really loving all the quotes I've found!

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge- Day 2

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge

Day 2: Fall Fashion

Thanks to my friend Katie, I have now become addicted to Pinterest. I have found SO MANY great fall outfits on there that I would LOVE to try out. Sadly, I don't have the money.

Now, I'm not sure about the scarf, but I love the jeans, boots and sweater!

Jessica Alba looks great in this outfit, wonder if I could pull it off?

Great outfit for work!

I really love the grey jacket.

Not 100 percent sure about the shirt, but I like the jacket!

I like this, but I'm not sure about the orange jacket though. Cute purse!

Okay, the earrings are not me, but I like the jacket. This looks very stylish, yet casual! Perfect for an afternoon date (you know, because I get SO MANY of those). ;)

Another comfortable looking outfit!

I could pull this off!

The boots are a "no go" for me, but the rest is cute!

Another outfit for work.

This looks good, but I'm not totally sold on the boots.

Not 100% sold on the magenta top, but I like the rest! The shoes are either super cute or super ugly, I can't decide. Right now I think they are cute!

Love this, minus the earrings.

As stylish as these above outfits are, I'm sure most of my fall will be spent wearing something like this:

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge- Day 1

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge

My sweet friends Neely and Amber have come up with a FABULOUS Fall Blog Challenge, and I'm so excited about it!

Day 1: Fall Traditions

1. Rangers playoff baseball
Okay, so this is a new one that started last year. And I'm HOPING (possibly praying) it continues! The magic number is 6 people. It's still time- let's do this!

Outside the Ballpark with my baseball home girls before Game 3 of the World Series last year

A very happy Rachel after a Game 3 win. I like to say when I go to a World Series game, the Rangers win! ;)
2. The start of football season.
Okay, I'll admit, football does take a backseat if the Rangers are playing (baseball is my first love). But besides that, I love watching it! College, NFL, even high school. I'm looking forward to going to a Cowboys game in a few weeks with my friend Leaneth!

Me and my football home girl Leaneth at a Cowboys preseason game last month.
3. The State Fair of Texas (click here for info on it).
It's the greatest state fair there is (in my opinion). Last year a friend and I took a half day at work and went in the middle of the week. It wasn't as crowded, so we might do that again this year!

The original head of "Big Tex".
This is Big Tex.

Riding the Texas Star (Ferris Wheel).

4. Decorating my apartment and office with fall decorations.

Outside my office area last year
5. Being outside and enjoying the (hopefully) cooler temperatures.

Aunt Rachel at the Dallas Zoo last fall with her little Rangers fans!
6. The start of hockey season (can you tell I love sports?)
I try to go to a few Stars games a year. It's so much fun! And regardless what the Texas weather is outside, you know it will be cold inside the AAC! :)

With my hockey home girl Beks!

XOXO!

Boob Tube Babble Friday!

Boob Tube Babble

I mentioned a while back that I have a lot of things recorded on my DVR (because life, and Rangers games, get in the way of my TV watching). Not complaining- I love life AND Rangers games. I look at it as having a full DVR means you have a life and not enough time to watch TV. :) So, you might be wondering what exactly I have on my DVR (or maybe you don't care- but this is my blog, I get to pick what I write about). :) So, in no particular order, here are some of my DVR recordings (I love my AT&T Uverse app, I can see my recordings on my phone). Some recordings are TV shows/specials and some are movies.
This is a special of the most candid conversations ever shared by Jackie Kennedy. Yes, I seem to have a fascination with the Kennedys (well, at least Jackie and JFK).

I also have a fascination with ghosts. I've been getting home late this week, and if you follow me on Twitter, you know that I can't watch this show after dark because I'll freak myself out. I have a few episodes recorded.

Yes, I'm a little fascinated with UFOs as well.

This is a show on ABC Family that I found myself sucked into. It stars Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence. I'm not gonna lie- it's a silly show. Not the kind of show I usually watch, but hey, it's like Clarissa Explains It All meets Blossom's Brother! Their season finale was this week.

Some show on The Weather Channel and this episode was about tornado chasing. You all know my obsession with tornadoes.

A girl in my carpool told me about this show so I've recorded a few episodes. It's basically a reason to sit and cry for an hour. This show documents surprise reunions of soldiers and their families.

A documentary on the real Indiana Jones that aired on the History Channel.

A special that aired on Sunday, hosted by Robert de Niro. This is footage that two brothers filmed on 9/11. They were making a documentary about a NY fire station and they were filming that morning. They captured footage of the first plane hitting the WTC. This is everything they recorded. I started watching it the other day. I need to buy more Kleenex.

This was on TV a few weeks ago, I haven't seen this movie in years, so I recorded it.

Another movie I haven't seen in years- I used to have it on VHS. I should get the DVD.

This was a movie that Alyssa Milano made last year (I follow her on Twitter so she was telling everyone to watch it). I'm embarrassed to admit that I not only watched a movie on Lifetime, I actually liked it. It was cute, so I didn't want to delete it. If it comes out on DVD, I will delete it.

Ocean's Eleven (the original one with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin)
I've been wanting to watch this one. Maybe I'll watch it tonight finally!

All of these movies aired on Turner Classic Movies. I like to record old movies I've never heard of, just to see if I will like them! These are the ones I haven't watched yet.
I Confess- This has an actor named Montgomery Clift (who was quite the looker in his day). It was also directed by Alfred Hitchcock, I love his movies!
Blue Skies- Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby are in this, it has to be good!
People Will Talk- I'll watch any Cary Grant movie!
Walk, Don't Run- Another Cary Grant movie I've yet to see!

I leave you with this picture my friend Tonya took last night while we were at the Rangers game (we had awesome seats near the dugout). She has given me permission to use it here!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! XOXO!

It's OK Thursday!

Linking up again with my girls Neely and Amber for It's OK Thursday!

Its Ok Thursdays

It's OK...

...to have spent your entire lunch hour at Starpower hanging out with Ben and Skin from ESPN radio. (Especially since Rangers pitcher Derek Holland, AKA The Dutch Oven, was there with them.)
Me and Derek Holland. I know, he looks like a 12 year old with a chocolate milk mustache. I think he's 24. Super nice guy though. Ben personally introduced me to him.

...to be looking forward to a Friday night with nothing to do.

...to have your own conspiracy theories about the JFK assassination.

...to eat Chick Fil-A two meals in a row.

...to be excited you were able to get video of Josh Hamilton hitting his first grand slam since 2008. (author's note: It's a little shaky since it's on an iPhone. Be sure to listen to the little kids behind us cheering.)

...to be a passionate fan of the TV show The Waltons.
Autobiography of the woman who played Erin Walton on the TV show The Waltons. I got it for $6 at Borders "going out of business" sale.

...that you are planning on seeing Taylor Lautner's new movie Abduction next weekend (don't judge).

...to be 74.9 percent sure that you have seen a UFO.

...to have a "news anchor crush" on Ron Corning from WFAA.

What's OK with YOU today?

XOXO!

Tuesday Tunes- Take Me Back to High School!

Gotta give credit to Brendan at the Ben and Skin Show for giving me my idea for today's Tuesday Tunes (side note: follow Brendan on Twitter here. He's awesome!) And I'm one of his favorite followers, go on, ask him, he'll tell you! Yesterday he played a "drop" that had Beck's song "Loser" in it. It made me think of high school. So for my post today, I thought I would list some songs that "take me back" to high school every time I hear them. For the record, I wasn't necessary a fan of all these bands, I just know these songs (for instance, I couldn't name another House of Pain song if my life depended on it). :) But I was a fan of Boyz II Men and Hootie and the Blowfish! :)

The Sunshine Boys Review

Last Friday night I got to see something I never thought I would: Dick Van Dyke performing live on stage. As my faithful readers know, he is my favorite actor of all time. My friend Aaron and I had second row tickets to see the play, The Sunshine Boys, which starred him and his brother Jerry.

Our view of the stage before the play started (I had to sneak it on my phone- no photos were allowed). The backdrop before the play was a picture of the brothers and their mother. So yeah, when they came on stage, they were about 15-20 feet from me!
The Sunshine Boys is their version of the Neil Simon play by the same name. I think we laughed the whole time- those two were fantastic together! Two of the funniest moments included when Dick Van Dyke's character approached an ottoman, looked out at the audience, gave a funny look, and walked around it. For those who don't know, Dick Van Dyke tripped over an ottoman in the opening sequence of his TV show back in the 1960s.

Another funny moment was when his character started talking in a British accent and Jerry's character kept telling him it was awful. Jerry said, "You sound like Bert from Mary Poppins!" Again, for those unaware, he was in Mary Poppins and has been criticized for his British accent in it. I personally didn't think it was all that bad, but then again, I'm not from England. I guess it's how I feel when people in movies "over exaggerate" a Texas accent. We don't all sound like hicks! ;)

Sadly there was no meet and greet, but the Van Dyke brothers had signed a bunch of photos to be handed out to those of us in the "VIP" section. Even though I would have loved to have met them, just seeing them live in person, on stage together (and in seats that close) was a dream come true. It was a night I'll never forget!!

10 years later...

10 years ago today we put aside our religious and political differences and came together as ONE nation. We will NEVER forget.

God bless the victims. God bless their families. God bless our troops. God bless America.

Happy Friday!!

Boob Tube Babble

Since I mentioned yesterday about having season premieres marked down in my day planner (yes, I realize I'm pathetic), I thought for Boob Tube Babble today I would post my weekly line up of TV shows that I plan to watch this season. This is brought to you today by the letters D V and R and the number 4 (meaning I can record up to four things at once on my DVR). If it wasn't for a DVR, there is NO way I could watch all of these. There are some shows I get about a month behind on watching because I don't have time. I guess that's a good thing- it shows I have somewhat of a life. It also means that sometimes TV shows take a backseat to sports. And so far I don't plan on checking out any of the new shows. I have too many to keep up with right now. Anyways, I'm rambling. So, here is my lineup!! **All times are CST**

Sunday:

Sunday football. Starts this Sunday at noon.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (for when I need a good cry). Season premiere Sept. 25 at 6pm on ABC.

CSI: Miami (I read a spoiler regarding Delko and Caleigh for this season- I'm excited!) ;) Season premiere Sept. 25 at 9pm on CBS.

Monday:

It looks like Mondays this year will be my "catch up" day (unless the Monday Night Football game is one I care about). I don't have any shows on Monday nights this season!

Tuesday:

NCIS. Season premiere Sept. 20 at 7pm on CBS.

NCIS: Los Angeles. Season premiere Sept. 20 at 8pm on CBS.

Wednesday

Criminal Minds (JJ is back this season!) Season premiere Sept. 21 at 8pm.

CSI has moved to WEDNESDAY! (Side note: Ted Danson is taking over for Laurence Fishburne, who has left the show). Season premiere Sept. 21 at 9pm on CBS.

Psych (so thankful I can record more than one show at once. Psych is on at the same time as CSI this year.) Season premiere Oct. 12 at 9pm on USA.

Thursday:

The Big Bang Theory (I can't wait to see what they do with this whole Raj/Penny situation from the finale last season!) :) Season premiere Sept. 22 at 7pm on CBS.

The Mentalist. Season premiere Sept. 22 at 9pm on CBS.

Friday:

CSI: NY. (I'm so glad this one is returning. I really like Gary Sinise!)

Saturday:
Another off day for me TV show wise. :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I promise a full review of The Sunshine Boys with Dick Van Dyke and his brother Jerry sometime next week!!

Have a great weekend!

XOXO!
