Mobile Monday, Friday Edition...

I've been told I needed to update my blog, so I decided to give you "Mobile Monday" on a Friday (it's my blog, I can do what I want!) :) Pure laziness is the only reason I haven't updated my blog in a week. There has been something about going home and doing absolutely nothing that has been very appealing this week. Side note: I have gotten up early and worked out the past two weeks. I'm so proud of myself. I'll admit it's nice to get home from work and NOT have to worry about working out. Although getting up early is a beating. Maybe it will get easier.

So, here is what's on my iPhone this past week:

I decided to finally unpack the spare room at my new apartment last weekend. I call it my "study". This was the before picture.
I know, scary, right? I put a note on Facebook that if I was never heard from again I was lost somewhere in this room.
After working hard all afternoon on Friday, I finally had one corner organized. Yes, I have a lot of books. No, that is not all of them (there is another bookshelf not pictured).
That wall is where I have some of my "non sports" autographs. They include Dick Van Dyke, Bryan White (country singer that I met back in the 90s), Christian band MercyMe, and an actress named Deanne Bray.
Had lunch with some friends on Saturday. I was feeling cute that morning, so I took a picture. ;)
How you doing?
After lunch, I spent the rest of the day organizing my study (let's be honest, it's really a sports room). :) I literally spent about 6.5 hours getting it all put together. BUT, it's finally done (insert happy dance).

For those wondering, I got that "Thespians Do It On Stage" bumper sticker when I was in high school. I was in the drama club, they gave those to the seniors every year. We won't mention how old that bumper sticker is! :)
I tried to get a panoramic picture with my iPhone.
My bobbleheads. Looking forward to getting more at the Ballpark this year!
For those who didn't believe me, my Washington Senators pennant autographed by Ted Williams. Yes, it is one of my most prized possessions. :) And yes, that is a comic book with Steve Avery on the cover below the shelf. :)
My sister texted me this picture of five of my nephews at the park. I wish I would have been there with them! They are Aunt Rachel's sweet boys (well, most of the time)! ;)
Dove chocolate has a "fortune" inside each wrapper. Not sure how I felt about this one.
Look what came in the mail this week!! :)
And look who made a ticket!! ;)
My new cap finally came in. I bought it from the Broadway musical Mary Poppins. I think it sums me up quite nicely, don't you think? :)
I love my new weather app (and the temperatures we are having right now!)
I saw these online after the new Pope was selected. I have Catholic friends who found these funny, so I don't feel bad about laughing. Come on, God has a sense of humor too! :)

My poor sweet Tony Romo, always the butt of jokes around here.
Come on, this is funny!!

My niece Alice texted me this picture, I sighed laughed! :)

Okay, I promise to be better about updating next week. Sneak peek- I'll be conducting my own kind of "March Madness" bracket. ;) I can't believe I'm actually going to post it on my blog (it all started as a joke with some friends, BUT I've been convinced to put it on here. Yes, I'm a nerd (and so are my friends!) :)
Stay tuned next week....
Happy Friday!!

XOXO!

TGIF!

After being off work for a month, I'll admit going back to a normal work schedule was challenging, but I honestly didn't mind. I had a good week, things were kinda slow around my office. I know I'll probably look back in a few weeks when things get hectic around the office and wish for another slow week. But I'll enjoy it while it lasts. :)

I'm supposed to go car shopping tomorrow, which is something I don't really like doing. I had my old car for almost 9 years, so it's been a while since I've shopped around for a new vehicle. I have a few ideas on what I want, once I get it, I'll be sure to post pictures! :)

I saw this on Facebook yesterday, it made me laugh (if you are familiar with Facebook and its ever changing privacy notice, you should find it funny).

I made sure I updated my privacy settings right away! :)
So, I was talking to one of my sweet friends from Shutdown Inning last night. If you are a Texas Rangers fan, you MUST check them out (yes, I said MUST)! Click here for their website. If you aren't a Rangers fan (don't worry, I'll forgive you) but like baseball, you should enjoy them as well! They post some good stuff. I'm Twitter friends with many of the good folks there and have met several of them at Rangers games. :) I would like to thank my friend I talked to last night for the kind words he said and for making me smile. You are the best! :)
72 days until Opening Day!
So, thanks to my current roommate, I downloaded this app called PiciBooth (it's free for those wondering). I've become a little obsessed with it (in the past 12 hours). It's pure greatness! :) It takes four pictures of you (I believe there is three seconds between each shot). Then you can add different effects/styles, etc. Yes, I'm easily amused. :)

Why yes I was taking pictures of myself at my desk. Told you it was a bit slow this week. :)

Since I probably won't get a chance to post tomorrow, I want to wish my best friend Mandy a happy (early) birthday! I hate that I couldn't make it to Austin this weekend to spend it with her, but I hope to see her soon!! Love you Mandy! R.E.W.R. (she'll know what that means!) :)

25 years of friendship- she's been putting up with me for a long time! :) If it wasn't for me, she wouldn't know who Steve Avery was or when his birthday is! And I probably wouldn't know as many Bon Jovi songs as I know if I hadn't met her. :) We have many great memories and I'm looking forward to many more in the future!
XOXO!! Happy weekend!

Happy Friday!!

First of all, happy 56th wedding anniversary to my folks! I love you and can't wait to see you this evening!
So, I texted my friend Micah to let her know I was stealing her blog post idea for today (but I wanted to give her credit, so go check out her blog here). She's awesome!

Things I'm obsessing over lately:

Rangers fans will recognize this as David Murphy's walk-up song.

Me and David Murphy
Color- Blue
I've always been a fan of "Rachel" blue (AKA dark blue- see color of David Murphy's jersey above), but I found this light blue quilt comforter last weekend at Kohl's and really liked it. And I really liked that it was 60% off, plus I had a 20% off coupon on top of that. I love sales. :)
For those wondering, yes, that is the famous Mordecai on my bed. :)
 Beverage- Sweet tea.
It should be required that every restaurant/cafe/fast food restaurant in Texas serve sweet tea. Please, and thank you.
I'm going to my folks this weekend. I know I will be having sweet tea at some point!
Yes, another crime show. You know I'm addicted to them!
Fashion- this dress.
Not sure it would look cute on me, but I think it's adorable.

Flowers- Daisies
I think they are beautiful! So heads up to all good looking, single guys who want to send me flowers. ;)
DIY projects- Fall crafts.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

XOXO!

Boob Tube Babble Friday!

Boob Tube Babble

I mentioned a while back that I have a lot of things recorded on my DVR (because life, and Rangers games, get in the way of my TV watching). Not complaining- I love life AND Rangers games. I look at it as having a full DVR means you have a life and not enough time to watch TV. :) So, you might be wondering what exactly I have on my DVR (or maybe you don't care- but this is my blog, I get to pick what I write about). :) So, in no particular order, here are some of my DVR recordings (I love my AT&T Uverse app, I can see my recordings on my phone). Some recordings are TV shows/specials and some are movies.
This is a special of the most candid conversations ever shared by Jackie Kennedy. Yes, I seem to have a fascination with the Kennedys (well, at least Jackie and JFK).

I also have a fascination with ghosts. I've been getting home late this week, and if you follow me on Twitter, you know that I can't watch this show after dark because I'll freak myself out. I have a few episodes recorded.

Yes, I'm a little fascinated with UFOs as well.

This is a show on ABC Family that I found myself sucked into. It stars Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence. I'm not gonna lie- it's a silly show. Not the kind of show I usually watch, but hey, it's like Clarissa Explains It All meets Blossom's Brother! Their season finale was this week.

Some show on The Weather Channel and this episode was about tornado chasing. You all know my obsession with tornadoes.

A girl in my carpool told me about this show so I've recorded a few episodes. It's basically a reason to sit and cry for an hour. This show documents surprise reunions of soldiers and their families.

A documentary on the real Indiana Jones that aired on the History Channel.

A special that aired on Sunday, hosted by Robert de Niro. This is footage that two brothers filmed on 9/11. They were making a documentary about a NY fire station and they were filming that morning. They captured footage of the first plane hitting the WTC. This is everything they recorded. I started watching it the other day. I need to buy more Kleenex.

This was on TV a few weeks ago, I haven't seen this movie in years, so I recorded it.

Another movie I haven't seen in years- I used to have it on VHS. I should get the DVD.

This was a movie that Alyssa Milano made last year (I follow her on Twitter so she was telling everyone to watch it). I'm embarrassed to admit that I not only watched a movie on Lifetime, I actually liked it. It was cute, so I didn't want to delete it. If it comes out on DVD, I will delete it.

Ocean's Eleven (the original one with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin)
I've been wanting to watch this one. Maybe I'll watch it tonight finally!

All of these movies aired on Turner Classic Movies. I like to record old movies I've never heard of, just to see if I will like them! These are the ones I haven't watched yet.
I Confess- This has an actor named Montgomery Clift (who was quite the looker in his day). It was also directed by Alfred Hitchcock, I love his movies!
Blue Skies- Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby are in this, it has to be good!
People Will Talk- I'll watch any Cary Grant movie!
Walk, Don't Run- Another Cary Grant movie I've yet to see!

I leave you with this picture my friend Tonya took last night while we were at the Rangers game (we had awesome seats near the dugout). She has given me permission to use it here!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! XOXO!

Rangers outfielder Craig Gentry. You have permission to sigh. :) Photo courtesy of my friend Tonya

30 DBC Day 26 and Five Question Friday!

Along with my new blog layout, I also have some new buttons over to the right sidebar. I wanted to mention one in my post today. My friend Brian lives in New York and is trying to raise money to help the Special Olympics. If you would be interested in helping him reach his goal, please click on the button and make a donation. Even if you don't live in New York, it benefits all athletes in the Special Olympics! :)

Day 26: A picture of your family

Since my family is so big, there are very few pictures of all of us. Here is a picture of my folks with their six kids last year at Thanksgiving!

I haven't done Five Question Friday in AGES, so I thought I would participate again!

1. Did you make any fun purchases this week?
Yes, in fact, it was just made this morning. A buddy of mine emailed saying he heard that Dick Van Dyke and his brother Jerry were going to be in Dallas doing a play next month. For anyone new to my blog: Dick Van Dyke is my FAVORITE actor of all time. I did a quick Google search and found out it was true (I was hoping he wasn't toying with my emotions). I found a link to buy tickets and emailed it to him asking if he wanted to go. He said yes and actually went ahead and ordered the tickets right then (I'll pay him back). We are going to be on the SECOND row from the stage, stage right. I'm beyond excited right now. If there is any opportunity to meet him, you can bet I'll find a way. Click here for the article about it.

2. If you could go to any musical concert, what would it be?
I want to see George Strait in concert. I had tickets one time, but wasn't able to go (painful memory, I'd rather not talk about it). I would like if Garth Brooks would tour again, I would totally go see him. Obviously, I never got to see Frank Sinatra or Elvis Presley in concert- that would have been cool!

3. What is your least favorite and most favorite house chore?
Let's be serious. Who really LIKES doing chores? I guess my least favorite is sweeping/mopping. Although doing the dishes is a close second. I honestly can't say I have a favorite chore. I do like when I clean out my closet (but only because I feel the need to go buy new clothes). :)

4. Would you prefer new appliances or clothes?
Um, hello....CLOTHES!

5. Miracle Whip or Mayo?Oh gag, neither. Blek. The only time I will EVER send back a hamburger at a restaurant is if I ask for no mayo and it's on there. It doesn't matter how much you wipe it off, you can still taste it.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

XOXO!

Finally Friday!

Yesterday was one of those days you wanted to be over and it had barely started. In fact, my Twitter and Facebook statuses yesterday morning were "It's not even 8:30am yet and I either need a hug, a good cry or something to punch." Thanks to some very sweet friends on Facebook and Twitter (and a phone call from one of my besties), I was able to finally smile and survive the day!

One of my good friends thought I might need to "let off some steam" so he stopped by after work and took me to the shooting range (note: this was only my second time to ever shoot a gun). I must admit, I felt better.

Say  hello to my little friend...

The holes circled near the top are ones my friend did (he aimed for a specific area so we would know which shots were mine). Not too bad for my second time, I was excited that I hit the X area. :)

I am SO glad that it's Friday. I am looking forward to relaxing tonight and tomorrow, and then on Sunday night, oh yes, I am DEFINITELY looking forward to this...

Be prepared for a full recap of my NKOTBSB adventures next week!!

XOXO!!

TGIF!

What a week! I'm so glad it's Friday! As soon as I get off work today, I'm heading to my folks for Mother's Day weekend! Looking forward to some family time!

So, it's been a while since I participated in Five Question Friday, so I thought it was time I linked up again!

1. Have you ever had a roommate?
Yes, when I was in college (and then two years right after college). When I first moved to Dallas, one of my former college roommates and I had an apartment together for about a year before I moved into the apartment I live in now. Right now my only roommate is Mordecai*.

2. How many names do you have (i.e. Prince Charming William Phillip Arthur Louis John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt)?
I just have three. My first name, my middle name and my last  name. I did graduate high school with a girl who had 6 middle names (I'm not lying). I don't remember them all, but it took up two lines in our graduation program.

3. Did you watch the Royal Wedding?
No. Well, I saw about 10 seconds of it when I turned on WFAA to watch the morning news only to realize ABC had been hijacked by wedding coverage. No offense to William and Kate, I wish them all the joy and happiness in their marriage, but I just didn't see the appeal. Weddings just aren't a big deal to me. Maybe I'm not THAT girly. If my mother wouldn't kill me, I would totally elope whenever Joe Mauer and I get eventually married (like how I threw that in?) ;) He's tall, loves baseball and has cute ears (we've established my ears fetish in previous posts). And come on, how can you not love a guy who makes a milk commercial with his mom?? Too sweet!! <3

4. What is the messiest room in your house?
My bedroom, hands down. It's because I have so much crap junk stuff. Also, my bookcases won't fit in the living room, so both of them are in my bedroom. And seeing that I have more books than space, I have books stacked up around my room (and right now I have my scrapbooking stuff in the corner. I've been working on my World Series scrapbook from last year). I know what you are going to say. Get a (insert electronic book reader name here). I've tried reading on a Nook. There is just something about having an actual book in my hands when reading that makes it better. Maybe it's the feel and smell of a real book, I don't know. I know, I know, I'm weird.

5. What is your ideal Mother's Day?
Since I don't have kids, I can't answer this one.

Head over to For the Love of Blogs and meet some new friends today!!

So, I realized this morning that 11 years ago today, I was attending my college graduation. Where does the time go?? I leave you with this "gem" of a picture!! Yes, yes, my hair was very blonde. Have a great weekend y'all!! XOXO!

Class of 2000! Look how young and carefree I was! What was I thinking?

Second, I'm so glad it's Friday. I'm off work at 11:30 today and I am ready for a little R&R! What are your plans this weekend?

For more 5 question Friday entries, go here.

1. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I've been thinking about how I was going to answer this question, and I'm going to say...........nothing. Meaning, I wouldn't change anything about me. I'm the way I am for a reason. My friends and family love me (most of the time) the way I am- why change it? I mean, could you imagine if I was a shy, quiet girl who didn't like sports? **shudders at the thought**

2. Write about at time you got lost.
Before I moved to Dallas, I was in town visiting one of my college roommates and her family. She gave me and our other roommate, who was also in town visiting, directions to get back to school (we had carpooled to Dallas together). She accidentally told us to go the wrong way on one of the (many) interstates, and we ended up at the DFW International Airport. Meaning, we somehow took a road that led us to the front gate of the airport. We had to go through the airport to get back out. DFW airport is huge. I'm pretty sure it's bigger than Rhode Island (many not, but close). At one point I was fearing we were going to end up on a runway because the signs were so confusing. When we finally got out, we had to stop and call our other roommate to find out how to get back on the right interstate. This was all taking place during the B.C. portion of my life- before cellphones. I had to stop and call her from a payphone (yes kids, before cell phones, there were these things called payphones, for a quarter, you could make a local call). What should have been a 2 hour drive home ended up taking us almost 4 hours.

3. Camping or a 5 Star Hotel?
I'm going with the 5 Star Hotel. My idea of "roughing it" is staying in a hotel with no cable. Now, I like going hiking and being outside, I just like a hot shower and comfortable bed at the end of the day. :)

4. Have you donated blood?
No. I REALLY HATE needles. I know, I should just get over it and do it. I will, maybe, one day.

5. Do you have a budget, or do you "fly by" most months?
I have a budget. There are times I don't always stick to it, but I have one!

Don't forget to stop by For the Love of Blogs and say hi to my lovely friends!

XOXO!

The truth is revealed!

So last week I gave you five statements, one of them was true, and four of them were false. For those of you who missed it, here they are again (in no particular order).

-The first major league baseball game I attended was between the Rangers and the Orioles.
-When I was in junior high, my family hosted an exchange student.
-I didn't learn to swim until I was 10.
-My favorite clothing store is Old Navy.
-When I get married, I want to leave the reception in a DeLorean.

Are you ready for the true fact? I enjoyed reading your comments and getting your tweets with what you thought was true. A few of you guessed it correctly! Now, some of these were partially true, but only one was completely true.

1. The first major league baseball game I attended was between the Rangers and the Orioles.
NOT TRUE. My first RANGERS game was against the Orioles, but the first Major League Baseball game I attended was between the Atlanta Braves and Houston Astros at the Astrodome in Houston (August 22, 1995). And Steve Avery was pitching that night (he was the winning pitcher in fact). Oh, and Chipper Jones called me "hun" (but that is a story for another day.) :)

     Steve Avery and Chipper Jones

2. When I was in junior high, my family hosted an exchange student.
NOT TRUE. I had a friend who hosted an exchange student from France (we taught him Pig Latin, it was awesome) but my family didn't host one. Anyone else remember Pig Latin? For a refresher course, go here for an English to Pig Latin translator! ;)

3. I didn't learn to swim until I was 10.
NOT TRUE. I learned to swim like at age 5. BUT, I didn't learn to ride a bike until I was 10 (don't laugh at me!)

4. My favorite clothing store is Old Navy.
NOT TRUE. I have maybe bought one thing from there in my entire life. I LOVE that most of you emailed or tweeted to me that you know my favorite store is Kohl's. That means you read my blog!! Or that I talk about Kohl's entirely too much! :)

5. When I get married, I want to leave the reception in a DeLorean.
TRUE! Yes, it's true. I would love to leave my wedding reception in a DeLorean. If it has a flux capacitor, that would be even cooler!! ;) I know, I'm a nerd. But think about it. Most people leave in a limo or by horse and carriage. How many people leave in a DeLorean?

I feel the need to watch Back to the Future now.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!! Sorry for the short post today. Hop on over to For the Love of Blogs and make a few new friends today!! XOXO!!
