It's OK...

It's OK...

...that I redesigned my blog, but I'm not sure how I like it. We'll see if it grow on me. Any thoughts? Suggestions? I'm too cheap lazy to pay someone to do it, so I can only use what Blogger provides. I may or may not have worked on this during my lunch break so I was a little rushed.

...that I keep forgetting to tell people I'm now on Bloglovin'. Hey y'all, I'm now on Bloglovin'. Click here for my page.

...that I did some heavy duty stalking investigating to find out who the guy was on the "It's Not Complicated" AT&T commercials. Those are the ones that have the guy talking to the little kids. I love those commercials. I read an article that they have scripts, but most of the time, the kids come up with better stuff, so they use those in the commercials. If you haven't seen any, check out the videos below.

...that I'm gonna have to buy a new adapter for my laptop.
Yeah, this adapter has seen better days...
...that I NEVER knew this. Man, third grade math would have been so much simpler if I had. Actually, third grade was probably the last time I was any good in math! ;)

...that Ryan Gosling is taking a break from acting. My freezer is stocked up with ice cream to help me get through this time.

...that ever since my incident, I can't watch Criminal Minds at night. I record it and watch it later during the day. Don't judge.

...to be not so patiently waiting for my Amazon gift card that I ordered last week (courtesy of my company, I got it for my five year anniversary). I already have stuff waiting in my Amazon shopping cart, ready to purchase as soon as the gift card arrives!

...that I'm like a kid waiting on Christmas when it comes to Opening Day. 10 more days people, 10 more days!!

...that sometimes a phone call from my best friend is all I need to feel better.

Mobile Monday, Friday Edition...

I've been told I needed to update my blog, so I decided to give you "Mobile Monday" on a Friday (it's my blog, I can do what I want!) :) Pure laziness is the only reason I haven't updated my blog in a week. There has been something about going home and doing absolutely nothing that has been very appealing this week. Side note: I have gotten up early and worked out the past two weeks. I'm so proud of myself. I'll admit it's nice to get home from work and NOT have to worry about working out. Although getting up early is a beating. Maybe it will get easier.

So, here is what's on my iPhone this past week:

I decided to finally unpack the spare room at my new apartment last weekend. I call it my "study". This was the before picture.
I know, scary, right? I put a note on Facebook that if I was never heard from again I was lost somewhere in this room.
After working hard all afternoon on Friday, I finally had one corner organized. Yes, I have a lot of books. No, that is not all of them (there is another bookshelf not pictured).
That wall is where I have some of my "non sports" autographs. They include Dick Van Dyke, Bryan White (country singer that I met back in the 90s), Christian band MercyMe, and an actress named Deanne Bray.
Had lunch with some friends on Saturday. I was feeling cute that morning, so I took a picture. ;)
How you doing?
After lunch, I spent the rest of the day organizing my study (let's be honest, it's really a sports room). :) I literally spent about 6.5 hours getting it all put together. BUT, it's finally done (insert happy dance).

For those wondering, I got that "Thespians Do It On Stage" bumper sticker when I was in high school. I was in the drama club, they gave those to the seniors every year. We won't mention how old that bumper sticker is! :)
I tried to get a panoramic picture with my iPhone.
My bobbleheads. Looking forward to getting more at the Ballpark this year!
For those who didn't believe me, my Washington Senators pennant autographed by Ted Williams. Yes, it is one of my most prized possessions. :) And yes, that is a comic book with Steve Avery on the cover below the shelf. :)
My sister texted me this picture of five of my nephews at the park. I wish I would have been there with them! They are Aunt Rachel's sweet boys (well, most of the time)! ;)
Dove chocolate has a "fortune" inside each wrapper. Not sure how I felt about this one.
Look what came in the mail this week!! :)
And look who made a ticket!! ;)
My new cap finally came in. I bought it from the Broadway musical Mary Poppins. I think it sums me up quite nicely, don't you think? :)
I love my new weather app (and the temperatures we are having right now!)
I saw these online after the new Pope was selected. I have Catholic friends who found these funny, so I don't feel bad about laughing. Come on, God has a sense of humor too! :)

My poor sweet Tony Romo, always the butt of jokes around here.
Come on, this is funny!!

My niece Alice texted me this picture, I sighed laughed! :)

Okay, I promise to be better about updating next week. Sneak peek- I'll be conducting my own kind of "March Madness" bracket. ;) I can't believe I'm actually going to post it on my blog (it all started as a joke with some friends, BUT I've been convinced to put it on here. Yes, I'm a nerd (and so are my friends!) :)
Stay tuned next week....
Happy Friday!!

XOXO!

My Name is Rachel, And I Am Single

I've been debating all morning if I wanted to write this post or not. And when I say all morning, I mean since 3:30am when I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep (blast you sinus trouble!) Even as I'm typing all of this out, I'm not sure I'll end up publishing it. We shall see (obviously if you are reading this, I'm publishing it). :)

I normally keep my posts kinda silly (because I'm a silly, yet delightful person), but today I might lean more towards my serious side (yes, I do have one). If I was a gambling person, I would be willing to bet money that most blog posts you read today will be talking about Valentine's Day (whether positive or negative). At first I thought, you know what, I'm going to be the exception and not say anything at all. I'll just do my normal "It's OK Thursday" and not even mention it. Then last night I received texts from a few single female friends and after talking to them about almost the exact same thing, I changed my mind and decided to post something after all.

It's kinda hard being single on Valentine's Day (and not for the reasons you are thinking, hear me out). If you don't mention it at all, people think, "oh, it's just too painful for her to talk about since she's single." If you DO say something about how you don't really care, they think, "oh, she's just bitter and sad because she's single." LISTEN UP PEOPLE (yeah, I'm talking to you). Don't you realize that people can be single AND happy? I know lots of people in relationships (dating and married) who are miserable, so don't tell me I can only be happy when I'm in a romantic relationship.

I feel at times singles are treated like we need to be in a support group. "Hi, my name is Rachel. I'm 27 years old (okay, I'm really 34, I just like to think I still look 27), and I'm single". If you are single, you know what I'm talking about, right? You show up at a party, a wedding, or a family function without a date or significant other, and you feel like people are giving you that sympathetic, "oh, I'm so sorry you are by yourself" look. Thanks for making me feel like I have a disease.

After texting my friends last night (we were all agreeing we keep hearing the same things from our friends about our dating life), I decided to come up with a list for you to consider when dealing with your single friends (this is probably more for single ladies, but I'm sure it would apply to single guys too). These were items that my friends and I agreed on. And I'm not saying this applies to EVERYONE, it's just something to think about. Also, I say this with all the love in my heart so please don't think I'm mad or saying this in a mean or bitter way. I do love you all!

1. Please, for the LOVE OF STEVE AVERY, stop saying, "You are such a great person and a wonderful "catch", I don't understand how you are single.". You know what, I am an AWESOME person, you don't have to tell me that. I already know it. I love sports, action movies, and can cook 8 meals not using a microwave- what's not to love? I AM a big deal (I mean, I DO have 1,307 followers on Twitter- people who don't even know me like me). I know you think you are being encouraging when you say that, but you know what, you aren't. So please, stop.
See, told ya! :)
2. If you have a single guy friend you want to introduce me to, first of all, please don't make it awkward and have a one-on-one meeting. Have a party or get together where there are other people there so it's not obvious we are both single and you are trying to set us up. That makes it uncomfortable for both parties involved. Second, just because he's single and has a pulse doesn't mean we are going to hit it off, so don't be offended if I don't like your friend (or vice versa).

3. Don't tell me I'm being "too picky" when it comes to guys. Now, I have accepted the fact that I'm not going to end up with Craig Gentry or Ryan Gosling (I'm a little sad about it, but I've accepted it), but I do have things I'm not willing to negotiate on when it comes to my dating relationships.
I'll use any excuse to put a picture of those two on my blog! ;)
You know my faith is very important to me (if you didn't know it, you know it now). If he doesn't love the Lord, it's not going to work. I can tell you that right now. He can be the sweetest and nicest [insert religion or non religion here] out there, but I just know from my past dating relationships, if we don't agree on our faith, there is no point in even trying. I'm not trying to sound snobby when I say that, so please don't read that as me being conceited or that I think only Christian guys are worthy of dating me, I'm not saying that at all. I've dated some Christian guys who were really NOT worthy of dating me (but that's a story for another day). I just know when it comes to ME, faith is THE big thing. I could accept the fact that he doesn't like country music, or Dr Pepper, or even if he wasn't a Texas Rangers fan (although that would make baseball season very awkward for us). :) That being said, don't think just because he goes to church that means we are going to hit it off. If Christians just needed to find another single Christian and they would immediately fall in love, there would be no single groups at churches. :)

4. If you haven't seen me in a while, please don't ask, "so, are you dating anyone?" If I'm dating someone (and if I want you to know I'm dating someone), I'll let you know, trust me. That being said, yes, I've dated and haven't talked about it on my blog or updated Facebook about it. I'll let you know when I'm ready to let you know. I even dated a guy close to a year that my family and some friends never knew about (I'm pretty sure that statement is going to open a can of worms next time I see people). Seriously, ask me questions like "what's new?","anything interesting going on in your life?", "Has Craig Gentry put a restraining order out against you yet?" etc. If I'm dating and ready to tell you, I will.

5. One of my friends last night was dealing with this situation and she knew I could relate. Please don't criticize my morals and what I do (or in this case, DON'T do) in my dating relationships. I respect your beliefs/morals and how you live your life, please respect mine and don't tell me I'm crazy for it.

This wasn't meant to call anyone out or to sound like I don't appreciate your concerns about my life (because I do), but again, I feel at times married people (or even people in dating relationships) all of a sudden forget they were ever single and they are now the expert in what you should and shouldn't do. Think back to when you were single and ask yourself if you would have wanted someone to say or do that to you, that's all.

Okay, I'm off my soapbox. I really hope that didn't offend anyone, that was not my intention at all. I hope you are still with me, thanks for reading. I do hope that you all have a great Valentine's Day (whether you are single, married, dating, etc). Just think- tomorrow all Valentine's Day candy is marked down 50%. :)

XOXO!!

It's OK...

It's OK...

...to listen and agree when your pastor preaches to not let the world tell you what is "beautiful", but still sometimes wish you could airbrush yourself into looking how you want.

...to TOTALLY want this sunshade for my new car. My birthday is in May (hint hint).

...that I'm ready to do a back flip because for the first time since college I am OUT OF CREDIT CARD DEBIT. Holla!

...to be going through withdrawal because I haven't been shopping at Kohl's since December (I seriously think they are going to take my gold MVP Kohl's credit card away from me if I don't go soon). This probably wasn't the smartest thing to put after a comment about getting out of credit card debt. Now you see where my problem lies. :)

...that my coworker and I say this at least once a day to each other (unless our boss is reading this, then we are 100% professional and work-minded while we are at the office).

...that my Pinterest pinning is out of control (click here to view my pins).

...to randomly put a Luke Bryan video on my post (it's my blog, I can do what I want). :)

...I find it funny that my friend Brandon has me listed this way in his iPhone.
Evidently I'm going to leave Craig Gentry for Ryan Gosling (I honestly would just prefer the two fight it out and may the best man win). ;)

Mobile Monday

What's on my phone this week..

Getting ready to workout. It seems a workout only counts if you mention it on some form of social media (seeing that EVERYONE has to mention either on Facebook or Twitter when they are going to the gym or have been at the gym). I didn't want to anger the "workout gods", so to be safe I posted this on Instagram. :)

I love the directions on the Pie Five pizza box! I'm so glad they put this there, I wouldn't have known.
I saw this book- it made me laugh!!
This is so true.
This van almost hit me and my roommate on our way to work. I wasn't driving, so I took a picture and tweeted that we were almost killed by this driver (I copied the name of the company). The company did respond asking where it happened and that they would be forwarding the info to the local office. Not sure if that happened or not. Don't mess with me- the Wrath of Rachel is very powerful. :)
Got to see my favorite Twitter momma, Mama T, on Friday. Follow her on Twitter here.
Me and the sweetest date I've ever had!
Anti-Valentine's Day cookies. The top left one makes me laugh!
Watching the Super Bowl with my friend Rachel. When the two Rachels are together, NOTHING good can come from it! This is a fact. :)
We are getting closer my friends...
Text from the 9 year old son of some friends of mine (see picture of the sweetest date above). He got a hold of my cell number and sent me this text. Yeah, he's a heart-breaker. He's already told me he's probably going to marry someone in his class though. At least he's honest. There need to be more honest guys like that! ;)
