What I'm Loving Wednesday!

In the midst of these times with horrible people doing such despicable things and there being so much ugliness and hate, I still strive to look for positive things and things that I love.

I'm loving...

That my folks came to visit me last Friday. I loved that they and my sister Mary were able to come up for at least one day. We went to the Rangers game (you can pretend to be shocked). It was Military Appreciation Night and the branch of the military the Rangers were honoring was the Coast Guard. If you bought a special ticket (which I did), you got a Coast Guard Texas Rangers cap. My grandfather (my dad's dad) served in the Coast Guard in World War II, so receiving this cap meant a lot to my dad. :) I'm posting a video of the Coast Guard marching song below.

Of course we ate lunch at Norma's Cafe. My folks didn't even get out of their car, they called me from the parking lot of my apartment complex and said "let's go to Norma's". Coming to visit me is just their cover, they are really in Dallas for Norma's. :)
Looking adorable in our new caps!

My folks just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary last week

I'm loving...

That my mom gets so passionate during Rangers games. Gee, sounds like someone else I know. At one point it looked like they were going to blow a six-run lead and my mom was threatening to go down on to the field and give them a talking to (joking, of course). The usher teased the police officer in our section that he needed to keep an eye on her. She was so excited when the Rangers finally won the game. Just look how happy they made her.

I'm loving...

That we got to see my cousin Debbie on Friday night. She moved to Texas last year and we hadn't had a chance to meet up. She was at the game with some of my other cousin's kids, so she came over and surprised my folks. I hope to get to hang out with her again soon.

I'm loving...

That I got to meet this precious little angel. She is the daughter of my friends Amber and Nash. I tried to sneak off with her (so I could change that hideous onesie), but they caught me. Lol.

Free baby night at the Ballpark!
 I'm loving...

That I spent the weekend at the Ballpark with some of my awesome friends!

Corina hugs make any day better!
I risked my salvation by skipping church on Sunday to get in line at the Ballpark for a giveaway item. Lol. It was a talking Rangers alarm clock. I now wake up to "Wake up, it's baseball time in Texas!". :)
Love these peeps!
I'm loving...

That some of the friends I got to see last week were friends I hadn't seen in a while!

Amber and Nash were in town for the Astros/Rangers series (they live in a house divided. Lol). So glad I got to meet their precious little baby!!
It was good to see my friend Britton again. We met up at a Rangers game in Washington D.C. earlier this season. He was in town for Pudge's retirement ceremony
I finally saw my sweet friend Keva again! She actually lives in the same town as my folks, but the last few times I've been there, I haven't been able to see her. She was at the game with her husband and kiddos.
I'm so excited my friend Laura and her lovely family have moved to Dallas. This was the first time I've been able to see her since then (I saw her hubby and son at a game a few weeks ago)
 I'm loving...

That I met up with some Twitter peeps at the game last Saturday. I love meeting my fellow Twitter addicts! Junior had an extra giveaway item from a game that I missed, so he gave me his extra one. :) And I'm glad I finally met Michael. He's a fellow blogger. Check out his blog here. :)

I hope everyone else can find something to love right now!!

XOXO!

What I'm Loving!

I'm loving...

That I was able to go see my folks for Easter. I was deathly ill on my deathbed writing out my will on the bathroom floor suffering from food poisoning on Thursday night and Friday, so I wasn't able to go to their house until Saturday, but I still had fun with my family. I was sad I wasn't up to having Easter lunch (it took a while before I was brave enough to eat again), but I have almost fully recovered right now. :)

For the record, I did wear a dress to church (my mother would NOT have approved of me wearing a T-shirt on Easter Sunday). This was taken right before I left to drive home

Yes, for the 38th time in my life, I got an Easter basket
I'm loving...

The new windows in my apartment. The complex installed new windows and put up new blinds (they are sturdier than the flimsy plastic ones I used to have up). While they were working in my apartment, I had to take all the stuff off my walls. I spent about three days putting everything back up in my study. I also bought some new bookshelves so I'm happy to report I no longer have books stacked up on the floor.

My "Woman Cave"
I call this my celebrity wall. Pictures and autographs from different celebrities
I had to buy another bookshelf for my bobbleheads

I'm loving...

That I have a busy but fun weekend coming up. I'm looking forward to hanging out with a lot of different friends. :)

Please leave a comment if you have a WILW post! :)

XOXO!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm loving...

That by the time this posts, I will be in Chicago! I'm here until Saturday afternoon. I'm super excited, I have a lot of things planned while I'm here! :) I can never just go on vacation and relax, I have to be doing something all the time. :)

I'm loving...

That my parents had a great 60th anniversary party this past weekend. We surprised them by letting them know we were sending them on a cruise in January (that's the one I'm going on). Well, my dad knew about it, my mom was surprised. All six of their kids were at the party and all seven great-grandchildren were there too. I think about six grandchildren were missing from the party (yes, I have a HUGE family).

My dad used to play the ukulele and sing to my mom when they were first married. She bought him a ukulele for his birthday! :)
My folks and their six kids

My folks with their favorite child (my siblings usually don't read my blog, so I can get away with saying this here). :)
This gentleman was my dad's best friend in high school. They lost touch during college but my brother somehow found him online last year and got him in touch with my dad via email. Saturday was the first time they had seen each other since 1954.
The pictures below are of me and some of my nieces and nephews (no one escapes a picture with Aunt Rachel). :)
Yes, this is my nephew- he's older than me. He's always called me his "little aunt". :)

I'm loving...

That I'm the great-aunt (notice the hyphen) of these seven awesome kiddos. I'm getting another great-niece in October. :)

I'm loving...

That I was able to go to a Rangers game last week with some friends. I felt like I hadn't been to a game in ages (okay, it was maybe just two weeks, but it felt longer). Lol.

At the game with my friend Larry (his wife, my friend Misti, was out of town, so I was his date). And yes, she knew about it (it was her idea). Lol. :)
My beautiful friend Janie!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm loving...

That I get to see my folks this weekend. Today is their 60th wedding anniversary! We are having a party this weekend for them- I'm looking forward to family time!

I'm loving...

That I was able to organize my craft closet last weekend. Sunday was my first day off after working 14 straight days, and instead of taking a nap, I spent the afternoon cleaning out and organizing a craft closet. Lol.

I went to Michael's to buy ONE picture frame, and ended up with all of this. Lol
My craft closet
I'm loving...

This podcast: The Babysitters Club Club. No, that's not a typo, that's the name. A friend of mine told me about it- I just started listening last week and am already on episode 15 (I think there are 23 episodes so far). These two 30-something year old guys read a book each week from The Babysitters Club series and then discuss it. It's hysterical, especially if you are like me and read the books when you were younger. Warning: They do cuss a little, so it's not for young ears.

I'm loving...

That I got to meet Rayvon Owen last week. I'll be honest, I don't watch American Idol so I had no clue who he was, but after hearing him sing, I'm a new fan. He has a great voice. I went up to tell him that and he was kind enough to take a picture with me. Sorry it's a little blurry.

I'm loving...

That I was able to thank some of Dallas PD's finest last week. I went up and told them I wanted to give them a hug and they gladly accepted one. I thanked them for all they do and for keeping us safe.

I'm loving...

My new soap dispenser. Stop laughing at me, yes I'm really loving it. It's a no-touch dispenser, so when you hold your hand out, the soap automatically comes out. I use it in my kitchen. It's great!

I'm loving...

That I'm finally going on a cruise!! It's not until January, but I bought my ticket last week. I'll be going with one of my sisters and our parents. This means I FINALLY have to get my passport. Lol. Even though the cruise isn't until next year, I'm counting it as part of my 101 in 1001 list because I've bought my ticket and I only have two months to finish this list. Lol. So 101 in 1001 update: 7. Take a cruise.
