Weekend Recap and Blog Challenge Day 19!

I hope your weekend was fabulous! I had a pretty great weekend. It started off Friday afternoon when I found these movies on blu-ray at Best Buy. What is even better is that I didn't realize until I got home they only charged me the DVD price..-score! I also had Best Buy reward points to use (I'm so addicted to Best Buy).
I don't care how old I get- I will always love these movies.
Friday night was my third Rangers game of the week. It was Fireworks Friday to the music of Elvis. We won't talk about the outcome of the game, but the fireworks show was awesome! And of course, how can you NOT have a good time listening to Elvis music?

I made a donation to the US Navy (they were outside the Ballpark) and they gave me an American flag. God bless our troops!
Captain, the Rangers mascot, got into "Elvis Fever". Picture stolen borrowed from MLB's Instagram.
Saturday I was at the Ballpark again for my fourth game of the week. I got last minute tickets to my company's suite (I do NOT turn down free suite tickets). It was so much fun. It was even better that the Rangers won 15-3. And I got to hang out with my BFF Brandy (who I don't get to see that much).

My baseball homegirls Julie and Monica

I think they updated the seats in the suite from last year- they were all cushiony now. Is cushiony a word?
Our view
The Texas Legends Race. It's only fitting that Davy Crockett won- his birthday was Saturday. :)
Rangers win- I like Texas!
After the game, I met up with friends to celebrate the birthday of my buddy Rich. He was super excited about the Whataburger gift card I gave him. And the Rangers bucket that I got for him at the suite. :)
He's so silly!
Me with the birthday boy!
A new friend, and new Twitter follower, Scott
Sunday was relaxing. After church, I had lunch with a friend and stopped by Half Price Books. I never seem to get out of Half Price Books empty handed. After that some friends and I met at Braum's for ice cream. Overall, a very full, but fun, weekend.

Blog challenge Day 19: What are some embarrassing moments you've had?

Oh sheesh, I have so many (why is it that we are always so willing to share our embarrassing moments?) :) Well, one time in high school I marched out of my band shoe during a competition. I had to finish the show with only one shoe on. Then afterward, I had to run back on the field to get my other shoe. My most embarrassing moment probably took place in college. Click here for that story.

Hope everyone has a great day!

XOXO!

Blog Challenge Day 18- Sleeping habits

Blog challenge Day 18: What are your sleep habits?

I try and at least be in bed by 10 or 10:30 on work nights. I probably get to sleep about 11 or so (unless the Rangers are playing on the West Coast, then this time is a little later). I rarely sleep through the night without waking up (even if I take sleeping medication). I can usually fall back asleep but there are times when I wake up about 2am or 3am and I'm up for the rest of the night. I prefer to sleep with a fan on, mainly because I like being under blankets. I have a hard time sleeping if I'm really hot.

Happy Sunday evening, sorry this is so late getting posted, it's been a busy day!

Blog Challenge Day 17- Cars that I have owned

Blog Challenge Day 17: Talk about the cars you have owned.

-1985 Ford LTD- it belonged to my grandma, when she stopped driving, it became my car when I was about 16. I had this car for about a year before we sold it. Then I had to start sharing my dad's car with him.

Picture stolen from Google. My car looked similar to this, except it was gray.
-1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme- this was my dad's car, but I drove it when I first moved off to college after my parents moved to Thailand to do mission work.

Picture stolen from Google, but this is exactly what my car looked like.
-1996 Plymouth Neon- this was the first car that was bought solely for me. I got it when I was a junior in college.

Me and my buddy Jake washing my Neon.
-2001 Nissan Xterra-this was the first vehicle that I paid for completely on my own. I bought it in 2004 shortly before I moved to Dallas. This was my vehicle that was stolen last year.

My poor, sweet Xterra.
-2012 Mazda 3- my current car. Although I enjoyed my SUV the past 9 years, I'm loving that I spend less money on gas for this vehicle. It gets great gas mileage.

So thankful for covered parking at my complex. Took this after a thunderstorm in the spring, my car had no damage. :)
So, what kind of cars have you owned?

XOXO!

Blog Challenge Day 16- Pet Peeves

Blog Challenge Day 16: What are some of your pet peeves?

-I think my biggest pet peeve right now is bullying. And not just kids bullying kids (even though that bothers me). I'm talking about adults bullying other adults. I've noticed that people always use the defense, "Oh, I was just kidding, don't take it so personally." There is a fine line between friendly "heckling" and flat out bullying. Unfortunately I've seen a lot of it on social media (Twitter, Facebook, and even Instagram). Now, I love Twitter (as you know from how much I talk about it). Twitter can be a fun place. I enjoy being on Twitter during a Rangers game and interacting with other fans. I enjoy following my fellow bloggers. I enjoy being able to read tweets from some of my favorite musicians, authors, and actors. I enjoy live tweeting Star Wars and seeing how many people decide to watch it along with me. (Yes, I'm a nerd). But it seems lately I've noticed more bullying going on (not sure if it's a new thing or I was just oblivious before). Now, you don't HAVE to follow someone on Twitter. If their tweets start annoying you, or you realize you just don't care for what they have to say, there is an unfollow button. I've unfollowed people (and people have unfollowed me). It didn't turn their world or my world upside down because of it. I honestly don't check to see who has unfollowed me because, well, I don't care. Not to sound mean, but my follower count isn't a high priority. I have great Twitter friends who do follow me that I enjoy talking to and I really do appreciate all of them. I feel some people take Twitter WAY too seriously. It's supposed to be fun. We are all not going to agree on religion, politics, music, sports, movies, etc. Some of my best friends and I don't completely agree on everything, but we don't go off if one of us disagrees. Now, if two people want to have a civil debate over some political topic, or who they think the best pitcher in the American League is, that's fine. But when you start the insulting and name-calling, I seriously just want to say, "y'all need a time-out". I honestly think some people have nothing better to do than just cause controversy. I don't see what kind of satisfaction that can bring to someone. Some people just like to stir up trouble I guess. But while all of this is going on, I don't see how we can tell kids not to bully each other when they see adults acting that way.

-Another pet peeve is people who are constantly negative. You know, I'm not happy 24/7, and sometimes I go days in a "I hate the world, leave me alone" mood, but there are some people out there who seem to NEVER have anything nice or positive to say. Or every response is a smart aleck comment. You know, if you don't like a TV show or musician that I talk about in my Facebook status, just don't comment. You don't have to comment that you think that show is stupid, or you can't stand that person's singing. Again, not everyone is going to agree with me. But it's just inconsiderate to constantly talk negative about stuff that I like. I probably don't like some stuff that you do, but I'm not going to insult you or whatever it is that you like.

Okay, I'm sure I have other pet peeves, but those two are my biggest ones right now so I'll leave it with that. And really, who wants a post full of me complaining about stuff? ;) I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

XOXO!

Blog Challenge Day 15- What Day or Time In Your Life Would You Redo?

Blog Challenge Day 15: If you could go back and redo a certain time or day in your life, when would it be?

I would go back to December (wow, didn't mean to quote Taylor Swift there). There were a lot of things that happened in December that I would want a "do-over" on.

-Some of that revolves around my incident. I would go shopping during the day instead of waiting until that evening, that way I would be back at my apartment before dark. Or I'd go back and be more alert of my surroundings. I would look for something suspicious and out of the ordinary. Or I would ask a friend to meet me and go shopping with me since it was already dark. I wouldn't be so trusting that I was completely safe just because I was at my apartment.

-I would go back and be more guarded with my heart, and I would be more careful with my emotions. I would not let my emotional state get the better of me and cause me to make impulse decisions I wasn't really ready to make. I would be stronger. I wouldn't get hurt. I wouldn't let it bother me months later. I know, all of that is vague, don't really want to get into all the details of it (I have to keep SOME of my life private). :) And no, that doesn't pertain to my incident.

Anyways...we are almost to the weekend my lovelies, hang in there! As always, thanks for checking out my blog. I appreciate the emails and comments on Twitter and Facebook. They mean a lot to me!

XOXO!

What I'm Loving and Blog Challenge Day 14

I'm loving...

That season 4 of Duck Dynasty starts tonight. I'll be at the Rangers game, but you can bet I'm watching it on my DVR when I get home! :)

I'm loving...

That I got to see my former pastor at the Ballpark last night, he was sitting just a few sections over from me. I hadn't seen him in a few years. We keep up with each other on Facebook (mainly talking Rangers), but it was great to see him in person!

I'm loving...

Luke Bryan's new CD. I bought it yesterday. I've already listened to it twice. :)

I'm loving...

That this guy was nice enough to give me and my friend a free ride on his "bike-cab". My friend was having trouble walking (she hurt her ankle) and he offered to give us a ride from the Ballpark to our car (which was several blocks away). He didn't charge us. These rides normally cost about $20 plus tip. I told him I would tell everyone they needed to look for him the next time they needed a ride to or from the Ballpark. So, next time you are out at the Ballpark, look for him, his name is Matt.

Day 14: What do you collect?

I mainly collect sports memorabilia (I know, this shocks you). The majority of it is baseball, although I have some football, hockey, and a little basketball memorabilia too. I also have autographs from some non-sports people too.

My sports room. You can kinda see my bookshelves too. I guess books are another thing I collect.

Some of my bobbleheads. I've obtained a few more since this picture was taken.
We got a free Rangers beer stein at the game last night. Since I don't drink beer, I'm guessing this will be a Dr Pepper stein?
And of course, my personalized Steve Avery autograph is one of my most prized possessions. :)
Happy Wednesday y'all!

XOXO!

Twitter Tuesday and Blog Challenge Day 13

Thought I'd start off my blog today with another edition of Twitter Tuesday. Please see below for my Blog Challenge.

Just some of the greatness you are missing if you don't follow me on Twitter. You can fix that by clicking here

What I tweet about:

I thank famous people for following me. One of my favorite authors followed me last week. She mentioned how she appreciated this blog post.

I live tweet my dates. Okay, I really don't. I sent this tweet last week (and also put the same thing on Facebook). I had like 15 people messaging me asking who Hugh was. I went to see The Wolverine. You know, with HUGH Jackman. But if Hugh would like a date with me, I'm sure I could make time in my busy schedule for that. :)
I express my anger over the whole Time Warner dropping CBS debacle. I don't care who is wrong. I better not miss any of my CBS TV shows or football games this fall. GET IT TOGETHER! Randomness With Rachel is not responsible for any un-Rachel like words in the following tweets. Even though technically I did type them. It was out of anger though, I wasn't myself.

I look for any opportunity to mention Sharknado. ;)

I express how upset I get over little things. For the record, the defender of the Alamo was Jim BOO-E. Not BO-E. It is not pronounced the same as David Bowie, the scary spandex wearing dude in Labyrinth

Would you believe I tweet about the Rangers? I also live tweet games sometimes, it's fun. :)

I even mention the Cowboys every now and then.

Sometimes my tweet get a little serious...
And sometimes my tweets are just random...

Blog challenge Day 13: What experiences have you had in the E.R.?

Oh wow, I've been to the E.R. more than I would like to admit (but I'm obviously going to).

-E.R. visit #1: is when I was a freshman in college. I had a bad upper respiratory infection. I was having trouble breathing and my roommate woke up my dorm mom at like midnight. She drove me to the hospital to get checked out. No lie, the doctor on call was named Dr. Pepper. I still have the medicine bottle with her name on it as proof. It's somewhere in the many boxes in my storage unit.

-E.R. visit #2: I got a concussion AND cracked my tailbone my sophomore year in college (if you would like to hear the long, embarrassing story, click here). And yes, I injured both my head and my tailbone, in the same move, I'm that talented.

-E.R. visit #3: I had just graduated college. I was a sports editor of a newspaper and was covering the local rodeo. I was trying to get pictures from the shoot (that is where the cowboys get on the bull). These nice cowboys were trying to give me a boost so I could stand on the platform for a better picture. We all somehow missed that there was a metal bar near the top, and when they boosted me up, I hit my head on the bar. I was more embarrassed than anything, so I played it off. About an hour later I was driving home and called my roommate to tell her what had happened. At that time I was a little confused (I kept asking what side the yellow line was supposed to be on) and she demanded that I pull over and she and a friend came and picked me up and took me to the E.R.

-E.R. visit #4: I woke up with a bad case of vertigo and couldn't find a doctor who could work me in that day, so a coworker drove me to the local hospital. I was severely dehydrated and was hooked up to an IV pretty much all day. If you don't know what vertigo is, trust me, it sucks (click here).

-E.R. visit #5: Opening Day 2008 my friends Aaron, Brandy, and I were hit by a drunk driver leaving the Rangers game. Well, actually the drunk driver hit the car in front of them, and THAT car hit us, but we were hit pretty hard. I was in the backseat of Aaron's extended cab pick-up. I thankfully had a seat belt on, but I hit my head on the back windshield (there are no headrests on those seats). It was my first time riding in an ambulance. I actually had JUST started the job where I'm at now. I was out the rest of the week, I was so worried I was gonna be fired. Have I mentioned I work for an awesome company? They were so understanding. Believe me, I have worked at places that would not have been so understanding.

-E.R. visit #6: Two years ago on Halloween a co-worker and I were rear-ended while we were out at lunch. I am willing to bet money the girl was texting while driving and just wasn't paying attention. We called our boss, who showed up and convinced us to go to the E.R. to get checked out. We both had to get X-rays and MRIs. My friend's Jeep was totaled. I had bad whiplash and an injury to my knee (which had been rammed into the dashboard). I actually had to see a chiropractor for over 6 months because of the injury to my neck. To this day, I still have a little trouble with my neck because of it.

Anyways, that's more about my medical history than anyone really cares about. Please tell me I'm not the only one out there who has had multiple E.R. visits??

XOXO!!

Weekend Update and Blog Challenge Day 12

Hello my sweet friends! Sorry I am a little later in the day updating my blog. Hope you all had a fantastic weekend. Mine was great (despite getting a bad sunburn).

On Friday evening my friend Monica and I made a drive north to visit some of our friends who have a lake house at Lake Texoma (it's on the Texas/Oklahoma border, hence the name).

We barely missed driving through some rain, but we saw this pretty rainbow on our drive up!
We spent Friday evening hanging out with our friends Elizabeth and Bobby, as well as some of their neighbors. They were all hilarious, we had a lot of fun!

Saturday we got up early to head out on the boat for a day of fun in the sun. We spent most of the day on this little beach area of Lake Texoma. We had it to ourselves for a few hours, but about 1pm more people started showing up.
My before pictures when I was still porcelain white! Yes, I make silly faces when I take selfies. Oh, and our view of the beach, before everyone else arrived. It was very peaceful!
Later in the day when more people arrived.
I had a little too much sun. I always think that I apply and reapply enough sunscreen, yet at the end of the day, it turns out I didn't. It didn't help that I fell asleep on the deck of the boat for a while. I didn't get pictures of my back, but trust me, it's a lot worse than the front side of me!

Showing off my lovely sunburn, you can kinda see my "burn line". In about a week, I'm gonna be peeling like a snake. Yeah, I can't burn and then get a sexy looking tan. I burn and peel (and get more freckles). I look like some alien from the 80's TV show V.
We headed back to Elizabeth and Bobby's house about five-ish to eat dinner. After taking a very cool shower, my sunburn was really starting to set in. I looked like Bob the Tomato from Veggie Tales.
No filters were used on these pictures, this is how red I was.
After a wonderful brisket dinner, we headed back to the lake to watch the sunset with a group of people. The community they live in is really nice. Everyone drives golf carts around the property instead of their cars. I really enjoyed being out there, it was peaceful!

Me and Monica enjoying the sunset
After a while, I started to not feel too well (I blame the sunburn), so I went back to Elizabeth and Bobby's house and pretty much crashed about 9. We got up early Sunday morning to drive back to Dallas. I spent the majority of Sunday on my couch, not moving.

The sunburn is getting a little better. It's definitely not the worst sunburn I've ever had. I am drinking lots of water and using this "after sun" aloe cooling gel that I really like. It makes the sunburn feel so much better.

Day 12: What is the story behind your name?
I'm pretty sure I was named after the Rachel in the Bible (see Genesis 29:17). All of my siblings and I have Biblical names. I know my middle name is after my great-aunt Ruth. Or was she my dad's great-aunt? She was somebody's aunt. I don't think I ever knew her though.

Hope everyone had a great Monday!

XOXO!
