Happy Friday!

I've been meaning to link up with this for weeks now and haven't had time. So, today I'm linking up with my friend Neely over at A Complete Waste of Makeup for this week's Boob Tube Babble.

Boob Tube Babble

Gotta give credit to TeenNick (and Neely) for giving me the idea of what TV shows I would talk about today. For those who don't watch TeenNick (and I honestly had never watched it until this week when Melissa Joan Hart tweeted that TeenNick was going to be airing some of their classic shows from the 90s). SCORE! From 11pm-1am (Texas time), they are airing old episodes of All That, Clarissa Explains It All, Kenan and Kel, and Doug. Okay, honestly out of those four the only one I watched was Clarissa Explains It All (it eventually was a part of the SNICK line up on Saturday nights). I really hope that they are going to rotate and maybe show other Nick shows from the 90s. It got me thinking which old school Nick shows I miss. Yes, I obviously LOVE reliving my childhood. ;) And I love that I got to grow up in an era when there was still some innocence left on television (gah, I sound so old! Sheesh!)

I've been recording Clarissa Explains It All on TeenNick (yes, I just admitted to that). Since I've spent 3 nights this week at the Ballpark (I know, you are shocked), I've only caught one episode so far. I was 12 when this show first came on the air. I remember that her best guy friend Sam (who I thought was cute- especially during the later seasons) used a ladder and climbed through her bedroom window whenever he came to visit. It was all very innocent. It wouldn't be that innocent these days on TV.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?:
Another part of the SNICK line-up. I loved this show. I've always been obsessed with scary stories (even when I was younger). I made sure to watch this show with the lights off. I'm gonna do some digging on YouTube to see if I can find any episodes.

Fifteen (AKA Hillside):
Anyone else remember this show? It was basically a teenage soap opera. It dealt with scandalous stuff like divorce, teenage drinking and smoking (cigarettes). I know, I see commercials these days that are more scandalous than that. But still, as a 12 year old, I was shocked and appalled (and watched anyways!) :) I found a clip of this show online. Oh the humanity- the acting and storylines were so bad!! And yes, I would totally watch it if it came on again! ;) Oh, and it starred a very young Ryan Reynolds! ;)

Before he looked like this:

He looked like this:

Roundhouse:
Another show part of the SNICK line up. It was like a variety show/Saturday Night Live for kids type show. I think I watched it mainly because it came on before Are You Afraid of the Dark.

Salute Your Shorts:
The adventures of the campers (and their fearless leader "Ug") at Camp Anawanna. Ah, good times! (You know you are singing the theme song now!) ;)

Hey Dude:
I mentioned in a post last week that I bought season 1 of Hey Dude. I'll admit it, if the other seasons come out on DVD, I'm buying them too!

I was mainly focusing on Nickelodeon shows today, but I may continue this theme next week and list some other shows from my "tween" years that I miss.

Be sure to check out other Boob Tube Babbles here

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

XOXO!

Happy birthday to my dad!!

Today is my dad's birthday- happy birthday daddy, I love you! I'm not able to be there with him to celebrate today, but hopefully I'll go home in a few weeks and we'll have a late birthday celebration at that time.

I thought I would post some pictures of my dad in honor of his day! :) I hope he doesn't mind some of them!

Wasn't he a cute baby?

His bow tie cracks me up! :)
Ah, the hairstyles of the 70s!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm loving...

MY. TEXAS. RANGERS. Last night's 7-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim makes it 12 wins in a row for the team. (side note: does anyone else think that calling a team the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim is a little redundant? I mean, Los Angeles means Angels, right? So they are the Angels Angels of Anaheim?). Anyways, my baseball heart is really happy right now.

I'm loving...

That I bought this gem yesterday. Oh yes, take me back to 1989. Man I loved this show. I watched a few episodes last night. And yes, Ted is still my favorite! :)

A semi-recent picture of David Lascher, AKA, Ted. Be still my 12 year old heart.

I'm loving...

That on July 30th me and my friend Leaneth...

....will be seeing Brad Paisley in concert!

I'm loving...

That I switched flex days and am off work at 11:30 today. **happy dance** I need a nap. The Rangers were playing in California last night so the game didn't start until after 9:00 Texas time. YAWN.

Hope everyone has a great day!! We are halfway to the weekend!

XOXO!

Pink Heart Funds

If you have been following my blog for a while, you know that I have been growing out my hair in order to donate it to a charity that makes wigs for cancer patients (or any other illness that causes hair loss). This past Saturday I finally went in and had my hair cut. I'm donating my ponytail to Pink Heart Funds (please click here to go to their website). They provide wigs to patients free of charge (there are other charities that charge patients for the wigs). One of the reasons I went with Pink Heart Funds is because the patient gets the wig free of charge.

Pink Heart Funds requires that your ponytail be at least 8 inches long, I was able to donate just over 9 inches. My hair is now shorter than it has been in a long time, but I like it. It's a lot cooler (seeing that it's been 100+ degrees for almost three weeks now.) And, I went from spending 45-50 minutes drying/straightening my hair to only taking 15 minutes. That is REALLY nice!

Here are some pictures of my adventures!

One last picture of my long hair

Hope everyone has a great week!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday: Thursday 13 Style

After being sick in bed for most of the week, I finally made it back to the land of the living yesterday. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to post my "What I'm Loving Wednesday" list. So, I decided to combine that with my Thursday 13 for this week! Has it really been a week since I posted? Gosh. That's crazy!

1. I'm loving...

This picture of me and my folks at the Rangers game last Friday. My folks came into town to visit. Aren't they adorable? And yes, I realize we all match. The Rangers won 8-4. My mom said she is their good luck charm, they win every time she is there (granted, she has only been twice, but still). She is also Josh Hamilton's biggest fan. If he ever wants homemade cookies, I bet she would bake him some!

My mom and I made black ribbons to wear in memory of Shannon Stone, the Rangers fan who died in a tragic accident at the Ballpark the night before. Prayers are still going out to his family!

2. I'm loving...

The staff at the Ballpark in Arlington. Last Friday my folks and I parked in the season ticket holder parking lot (shout out to my friend Stan for giving us his parking pass). My mom has hip issues and has been having problems walking lately (even with cane, it is still difficult for her). The staff in the parking lot called for a golf cart to come pick us up at my truck (by the way, they let us park on the front row, even though I don't have a handicap permit). A nice lady named Sabrina was driving the golf cart and took us to the will call window so I could get our tickets and then drove us to the front gate. After that, she radioed for someone to bring a wheelchair to our location. A nice gentleman named Leland wheeled my mom all the way from the front gate to the elevators and then on to our seats (in the upper deck). He said after the game to just have the usher radio someone to come pick us up. After the post game fireworks show, a nice lady named Robin wheeled my mom all the way from our seats to my truck. We couldn't have asked for better service. BIG SHOUT OUT!! :)

3. I'm loving...

Slurpees. And I'm loving that most 7-11s have Dr Pepper flavored Slurpees.

A friend and I took a "smoke break" the other day at work for a Slurpee run. FYI, we don't smoke, but we figure that smokers are allowed multiple breaks a day to go outside and smoke, so we should be able to take a 15 minute break to go get Slurpees. :)

4. I'm loving...

These pictures of my BFF's daughter "E". I haven't seen her since she was born and I can't wait to see them all again (hopefully soon). I keep telling them she needs to visit Dallas (hint hint). ;) Hopefully one day Aunt Rachel will take her to her first baseball game! :)

She looks so precious here!! Photo stolen from  courtesy of my BFF and her hubby

This one makes me smile!! I love the look on her face. Looking groovy E!! :) Photo stolen from courtesy of my BFF and her hubby
5. I'm loving...

My new shirt from PlayerTees. I had them design this shirt for my favorite radio show, The Ben and Skin Show, on ESPN radio in Dallas. Check out PlayerTees here. They have a great selection of designs and you can design your own. Tell them Rachel sent you (don't worry, they know me!) :)

6. I'm loving...

That my friend Monica and I had a good time at the Reebok Celebrity Baseball Game in Frisco last weekend. It was a lot of fun and we even got our pictures taken with some celebrities!

Actor Michael Clarke Duncan (The Green Mile, Sin City, just to name a few)
Actor Geoff Stults (he's been in some movies, but I remember him most from the TV show 7th Heaven)And for those who have asked, no, sadly, I did not give him my number. I was tempted though! ;)

Actor Donald Faison (believe it or not, I've maybe only seen one episode of Scrubs. I didn't tell him that though!) :) He was quite possibly one of the funniest guys out there though, the crowd loved him! He had a bunch of sunflower seeds in his mouth, which is why he's not really smiling. :)

7. I'm loving...

The ability to upload pictures from my iPhone to Twitter and Facebook (what did we do before this technology was invented?) ;) Going to lunch today my friend Kelly and I were behind this truck. I was like, that can't be safe. As we were going around it, I took a picture. And then I uploaded it to Twitter (because why take a picture this random and not share it?) I know, I'm a nerd!

I hope those don't fall...

8. I'm loving...

My Twitter friends. Or my "tweethearts" as I call them. As I mentioned before, I was sick for a few days this week. Because of that, I was "offline" from basically Sunday night to yesterday. When I logged on yesterday, I had all these tweets asking if I was okay and where I was. It made me feel special! :) They missed me! Or maybe they realized that their timelines weren't as cluttered when I wasn't online (have I mentioned I tweet a lot?) :)

9. I'm loving...

The kindness of complete strangers. At the Rangers game on July 4th, the guy sitting in front of me and my "baseball homegirls" asked if we wanted anything (he was going down to get something to eat). I joked that we would take a pretzel . Yeah, he came back with the mother of all pretzels for us (this is like 3 pounds- read about it here.) The three of us were NOT able to finish this!

Everything is bigger in Texas!
10. I'm loving...

That for one brief moment, gas prices started to drop. Gives me hope they might go down again!

Sadly they have gone back up since this was taken. :(

11. I'm loving...

How excited the Rangers get when they have a walk off home run. This is from last Saturday night. Down 6-5 in the bottom of the 9th with one man on, and two outs, Josh Hamilton hit his first walk off home run in three years. In fact, it was three years to the day of his last one. If the video doesn't work, click here.

12. I'm loving...

That this is the 13th day in a row of 100+ temperatures here in Dallas.....Okay, I'm not really loving it, but why complain about it? Not like that will change anything. But all of you on Twitter complaining about rain, could you please send some this way?? Thanks! :)

13. I'm loving...

Whoever invented air conditioning. God bless you. Per Wikipedia, it was a man named Willis Carrier, but I don't know how reliable that is! If it was, God bless you Willis!

Hope everyone is having a great week, the weekend is in sight! Wahoo!!

XOXO!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

It's been a rough day and nothing makes me smile more than pictures of my adorable great-nephews "C" and "E". I stole borrowed these from my niece's Facebook page. I love these sweet boys and can't wait to see them again!

I love the matching shorts!
E taking a break...
I love this hat!
C loves veggie chips!
Taking a break from jumping on the trampoline!
C was ready to help with the cookout!
Aunt Rachel has taught him well- drinking the good stuff early in life
C getting piano lessons from his Mimi
It's a shame they don't like the water... ;)
Testing out some flippers!

Happy halfway through the week everyone! Have a wonderful day!

XOXO!
