I meant to get online this weekend and thank my friend Christine for a blog award she gave me on Friday, but I didn't get a chance to get online. I'll be honest. I was being lazy this weekend, watching Rangers baseball and season one of The X-Files on DVD (David Duchovny looked so young!!)
Then I got on my blog this afternoon and saw that my friend Katie had also given me an award. WOW guys, thank you SO MUCH!! I feel so special that not only do you take time to read my blog, but that you feel I am worthy enough of an award. :)
Then I got on my blog this afternoon and saw that my friend Katie had also given me an award. WOW guys, thank you SO MUCH!! I feel so special that not only do you take time to read my blog, but that you feel I am worthy enough of an award. :)
The requirements after winning the award are to list seven things about myself and then pass the award on to some new blogs that I've discovered.
First I want to thank the friends who nominated me. Thank you again Christine! I discovered Christine's blog, Phoenix Revolution, when she was a guest blogger on my friend Laurie's blog. Her post about pink fuzzy handcuffs was hysterical! I followed the link to her blog and immediately became a new follower. :) And thank you so much Katie! I found Katie's blog, Words by Katie, though one of the "blog hop" sites (or maybe she found me, I don't remember who found who first). :) We discovered that have a lot in common. We both love to read and she is another girl that posts about sports on her blog!! I love it! And it seems we both have a love lust admiration for Adam Rodriguez! :)
I would recommend checking both of their blogs out. Just click on the name of their blog, that will link to their page!
Seven things you might not know about me. Wow, I feel like I've shared all my secrets on here (probably not the smartest move, I can never run for a public office now!) ;) Let me see if I can think of any more (I apologize if any of these are repeats)...
1. When I was in high school, the band Butt Hole Surfers (yes, that was their name) filmed a music video at my school and I'm in it. I was in the band (more specially, the Color Guard- oh yes, I was a band nerd), and we were in their video for the song Underdog. It was part of the album Saturday Morning: Cartoons' Greatest Hits (I think the video aired on The Cartoon Network). Anyways, here is a copy of the video. The Color Guard is wearing white shirts. I can't tell you exactly where I'm at in it (it was filmed like 15 years ago), but I'm there somewhere!!
2. When I was 10 years old, I sang on stage with gospel singer Sandi Patty. Mind you, it wasn't because of my singing ability (because I don't have any). I was at a concert with my mom and sister, and Sandi announced that all kids 10 and under were welcomed to come up on stage and sing with her. I don't remember what we sang, but I know at one point she walked up to me and put her arm around me as we were singing. What I do remember is that this concert was about a month before my 11th birthday and I was so excited I was still 10 at the time.
3. I usually fall asleep with my TV on (it's set on a timer to go off after an hour). I like having the low "background" noise when I fall asleep. Maybe it's because I live by myself and if I didn't have that "noise", I would hear other noises and freak myself out.
4. I was 17 before I saw a major league baseball game in person. And I skipped school to see it. (I didn't grow up near a professional team). My senior year of high school the Braves were playing the Astros on a Tuesday night, and Steve Avery was pitching (insert teenage girl *sigh* here). I convinced my dad to let me skip school so I could go to Houston to see the game that was that night. I even had a sign that said "I skipped school to see Steve Avery".
5. I didn't learn to ride a bike until I was 11 years old.
6. I sometimes watch Christmas movies in the middle of summer (sometimes you just need to hear Bing Crosby sing!)
7. I can see about a minute of The Brady Bunch and tell you what episode it is (I know, that is just sad!) :)
I'm passing this award on to the following new blogs that I've recently discovered. If you have time, please check these out. Just click on the name.
WOW - Thanks! I feel greatly honored! :)

Oh, you are SO sweet! Thanks so much for thinking of me. I truly appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteI love your list! It seems we have a good bit in common. I truly love Sandi Patty and I used to listen to her music a lot. She is really amazing. I also must have 'white noise' to be able to go sleep and stay asleep. I don't use my TV but I have on my oscillating fan instead. Also, I live just outside of Atlanta and I grew up watching the Braves. My dad used to work for Turner Advertising when it was owned by Ted Turner and he could get tickets pretty easily. Plus, when they had their yearly company picnic, we would have it at the Braves old stadium. It was so fun as a little kid to be able to just run all over the stadium, in the stands and across the field, when it was just the company people there. Plus, when I was little the Braves still had Chief Noc-A-Homa and he 'lived' in a tipi there. We thought we were in heaven getting to play in a tipi! LOL! Of course, when I was younger some of the main players were guys like Dale Murphy, Phil Niekro and Steve Bedrosian. I'm telling my age, aren't I? :0) These days, Steve Bedrosian lives in the same small town I do and goes to my brother's church. He also serves on our school board and is an assistant baseball coach at one of the three high schools in our county. He is a really great guy. His son, Cam, just graduated from that same high school this past May. He was offered a scholarship to play for LSU OR a $1.14 million contract to sign with the L.A. Angels. I read in our hometown paper that after much deliberation, he has chosen to go Pro!
Anyway, sorry to ramble! Thanks so much for the award. I truly appreciate you thinking of my blog and me. :0)
I hope you have a wonderfully blessed day.

Congratulations on the award! I can totally identify with some of your seven!
ReplyDeleteEven before you put in the *sigh* for Steve Avery, I sighed in real life, sitting in front of my computer screen. I grew up on the Braves (although now I'm more of a Red Sox fan... :) ) and I never got to see them in person, so I'm a little jeaous that you got to skip school and see them! My mother would have never allowed that! :)
I also attended a Sandi Patty Concert once, although if I got to go up on stage, I have no recollection of it. She used to be my favorite, and then I discovered Amy Grant and Point of Grace and I was sold.
I loved reading a bit of your blog! I should be in Texas in a few weeks to see the Rangers/Red Sox play, and I'm excited! Have a gret week! Stop by sometime... http://chilmes.blogspot.com
