R.I.P. Davy Jones

I was so sad when I heard today that Davy Jones (from the Monkees) had died of a heart attack at age 66. I grew up on reruns of the Monkees (thank you Nick at Nite) and loved their music. In fact, two years ago a friend and I went to see Davy Jones in concert. Click here for that post. I felt the need to honor Davy today by posting some videos. R.I.P. Mr. Jones, you will be missed!!

Boob Tube Babble: Lois and Clark

Boob Tube Babble

Neely's post today asked about our favorite show from the 90s and if we had a favorite couple. There are SO MANY shows to choose from, but I would have to say probably my favorite TV show of the 90s was Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman

I remember this show came on Sunday nights at 7pm. I had church on Sunday nights so I had to set the VCR to record it. Oh yes boys and girls, back before there were DVRs and TIVO, you could set this device called a VCR and it would record your show. You just had to pray that you had enough room on the tape for the episode. And if you got home in the middle of the show, you had to wait until it was over to start watching it. I can't say I miss that! A DVR is so much better!

Do I have to put **spoiler alert** on a show that's almost 20 years old? Just to be safe **SPOILER ALERTS BELOW*** Anyways, I guess it goes without saying that my favorite couple on the show was Lois and Clark. Although they weren't always together. In fact in season one, Lois was going to marry Lex Luthor- I know, ew. And for a while Clark was dating this one gal named Mayson Drake (I NEVER liked her). I have to say that one of my favorite characters on the show was probably Jimmy Olsen though. Anyone else remember they changed actors after season 1?

Michael Landes- Jimmy Olsen in season 1
Justin Whalin- Jimmy Olsen 2.0.
I'm not sure if I could pick just one favorite episode, I have so many. I remember there was one where some scientist brought Bonnie and Clyde and Al Capone back to life, and Clark ended up "getting killed" trying to protect Lois. That was kind of the turning point in Lois and Clark's "relationship". It made her realize how she felt about him. I forget how they explained Clark's "coming back to life" though. But, I always thought it was a cute episode. :)

I remember the finale of season 2 (I think) had Clark proposing to Lois. He asked "Will you marry me?" and it ended with her starting to say something, then it cut off. We had to wait all summer for her answer. Her answer was "Who's asking- Clark or Superman?" Turns out the glasses didn't always fool her! So she had to see how she felt about Clark's "secret life" and if she wanted to deal with that, yadda yadda yadda. I know they eventually got engaged but it took them forever to actually get married. I honestly haven't watched the last season in a long time, but I remember there were some weird episodes (even a few that this die-hard fan didn't care for). But in the end, yes, they did get married. :) I think I might have a season 4 marathon soon, just to refresh my memory! ;)

I'm ashamed embarrassed proud to say I own all of the seasons (there were only 4) on DVD. Well, actually season four once belonged to a friend of mine, but after I borrowed it I told him season 4 would rather be with his family (season 1-3) so it was best that I keep it (he only owned season 4). Yes, that worked! ;) In fact, when that friend calls me, his ringtone is the Lois and Clark theme song. Yes, I know, I'm a nerd.

Thursday 13- Dream Library

As my regular readers know, I love to read. I have many bookcases in my apartment (and some books stacked up in the living room because I've run out of shelf space). Yes, yes, I know, electronic books are much more practical, but I can't help it, I like holding a real book, I can't explain it.

Well, after telling myself I wouldn't create a Pinterest board of rooms/items I would want in my "dream home", I caved and started one (see it here). I have found some of the cutest ideas for personal libraries, I thought I would share them for my Thursday 13 today! Hopefully ONE DAY I will have one of these! :)

The only thing I would need is curtains or blinds. I've seen too many scary movies. I'd freak myself out in this room at night! Side note: Seeing the piano in this room makes me want to start practicing again!
I love the window seat!
I always wanted a secret passage in my house when I was a kid. A library is the perfect spot for one!
I'm not sure what I think of this one yet, it's unique looking, that's for sure!
I love the ladder going up to the higher shelves.
Yes, I probably have enough books to fill all the shelves in this one!
I know, this is unrealistic, but still, I love it!
This is probably more realistic of what I'll actually have. Cute and simple.
The secret passages/secret rooms seem to be a popular idea!
Don't care for those lights, but I like the books above the door.
Another window seat!
Cute! Looks like there is a lot of natural light, perfect for reading during the day!
I like this, minus the TV. I don't need a TV in my library! :)

We are almost to the weekend, hang in there friends!! Check out more Thursday 13 lists here!
XOXO!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm loving...

That I bought a 20 game ticket package from the Rangers last month (which guaranteed me a ticket to Opening Day) because I did not win the lottery drawing for the opportunity to buy Opening Day tickets.
So far none of my friends were picked for the lottery. :(
I'm loving...

That Spring Training has officially started. Two weeks until my trip to Arizona!! :)

I'm loving...

The cute purse I found thrift store shopping last week (see post here). It's a book purse, very fitting for a book nerd worm enthusiast such as myself! ;)
There is a zipper pouch inside.
I'm loving...

The homemade soap I bought from my friend Judy. Did you miss my post yesterday about it? Please click here to read all about it!! Or click the picture below to check out her website!

I'm loving...

That new episodes of Psych return NEXT WEEK!! **happy dance**

I'm loving...

Homemade Soap!

My sweet friend Judy over at Cranberry Morning makes and sells homemade soap. I recently purchased a few bars from her and I absolutely love them!!

I know some of my friends are sticklers about the soaps they use and don't like the harsh chemicals found in store bought brands. All of Judy's soaps are made with quality oils and botanicals. She has many scents to choose from (trust me, it's hard to choose which one you want). This time I ordered the Peppermint Tea bars and I love the scent! :)

Every order has instructions on how to care for the soap.
As soon as my PayPal payment cleared, she mailed the soaps and I think I got them within two days of that. I highly recommend checking out her store. You should think about buying a bar or two. Mother's Day is just a few months away, they make great gifts!! :)

Click the button below to check out Soap 'n' Such!

Also, you should check out her main blog (see button below). I love reading her posts (she was one of the first blogs I started following a few years ago when I entered the blog world)! :) I love hearing about her family (and her cooking- some of her posts will make you hungry just reading them!) I also look forward to her posts that have pictures from her trips to England. I told her we must take a trip there sometime (as many of you know, a trip to England is on my bucket list)! :) Stop by her blog, tell her howdy and that I sent ya!!

Have a great day friends!

XOXO!

Weekend recap!

Happy Monday friends! For all of you at home because you had President's Day off, I hate you am happy for you. After my eventful weekend, I could have used a day off! But alas, I wasn't that lucky. On Friday I was off work at 11:30 so the gals from my carpool and I did a little thrift store shopping and had lunch together. I have to say, I LOVE thrift stores. We found a new one that we really liked. I did pretty good. I bought a purse and hat and only spent $12 total. I thought I had a picture of both on my phone, but I guess I didn't take one. I'll post a picture later this week!

After an afternoon full of shopping and Chick Fil-A, I met up with the BFF and we went to see The Vow (oh yes, two movie dates with Channing Tatum in one week, I'm a lucky, lucky girl!) ;)
Me and the BFF- it was taken in a dark theater so it's not the best picture.
I'm not a huge chick flick person, but this movie was okay. It was cute, not the best movie I've ever seen, but it was pretty good. If you are a die hard chick flick fan (or just like seeing Channing Tatum with no shirt on), I would recommend seeing it in the theater. If not, I would Red Box it when it comes out on DVD.

Saturday morning I woke up to rain hitting my window, and I could tell it was a cold and miserable day outside. I finally got my lazy body out of bed about 1:00 (for the record, I was awake about 9ish, I was just sitting in bed watching TV until 1:00). Kohl's had sent me a 30% off coupon, and I felt it would be rude to at least not go by and say hi (this is how shopoholics justify going shopping). And just because I know you are dying to see what I got, here ya go. I actually did pretty good, I only bought three things.
Hooray for new work outfits!
I got home about 4:30 or so and was preparing for an evening of intense DVR watching when a friend of mine called. He had two extra tickets to the Darius Rucker/Lady Antebellum concert that night and wanted to know if a friend and I would like to go with him. I told him no, I would rather be a lazy bum and stay home by myself instead of going to a free concert. I'M KIDDING!! Of course I said yes. He called back a little while later saying he wasn't feeling good, so he actually had three tickets. He dropped the tickets off at my place and my friends Lea, Laura and I went to the AAC for the concert.
Our view (taken before the show)
Some friends saw on Twitter and Facebook that I was there, so I was able to meet up and say hi to them.
My friend Leaneth was also there!
Got to meet one of my Twitter peeps!
The concert was great. The group Thompson Square opened the show. I only knew a few of their songs, but I thought they did a great job! This is my probably my favorite song of theirs.

I absolutely love Darius Rucker! I think this is the third time I've seen him in concert. I would say that he stole the show and was my favorite part! :)

And yes, he did sing a few Hootie and the Blowfish songs! ;)

Lady Antebellum did NOT disappoint. I had never seen them in concert before and I think they did a fabulous job! :)
Lady Antebellum. Picture stolen graciously borrowed from Lady A's Facebook page.
Love this song!

Sunday afternoon I drove to the other side of the Metroplex for the BFF's jewelry party. It was pretty exciting that I got to hang out with her twice in one weekend (this rarely happens). AND I got to see my sweet god dogs! I got home about 6 and was beyond exhausted. I think I was in bed about 8:30. See why I need another day off to recover?? :)

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

XOXO!

Book Club Friday

I found this blog hop and decided to link up today! If you want to check out other book reviews, hop on over to Blonde...Undercover Blonde.

As you know, I love to read. I recently starting reading a trilogy so I thought I would review book one of that series.

First of all, NO, not Heather Graham the actress. The author and actress are two totally different people. I discovered this author thanks to my friend Martha, who let me borrow one of her books a few years ago. Her style is a range of mystery/suspense to supernatural/paranormal to romance (and sometimes a mixture of all of those).

Ghost Shadow is the first book in The Bone Island trilogy series. Heather's books are usually a fast, fun read, and if you have a whole day to do nothing, you can easily read one in less than a day. This book was no exception. I think I read it in two days (I started it late one night and finished it the next day).

Here is the synopsis:
There are those who walk among us who are no longer alive, but not yet crossed over. They seek retribution...vengeance...to warn. Among the living, few intuit their presence.

Katie O'Hara is one who can.

As she's drawn deeper and deeper into a gruesome years-old murder, whispered warnings from a spectral friend become more and more insistent. But Katie must uncover the truth: could David Beckett really be guilty of his fiancee's murder?

Worse- the body count's rising on the Island of Bones, and the dead seem to be reenacting some macabre tableaux from history. The danger is increasing by the moment- especially as Katie finds herself drawn to David, who may be responsible for more than one killing.

My Thoughts:
Ever since I was little, I've enjoy stories about ghosts. And I love murder mysteries (this explains my crime show addiction). This is a mixture of both and I think Heather Graham did a good job with it. I really liked the main character in this book- Katie is a very strong-willed person. I liked her immediately. I also liked Bartholomew (if you read the book, you'll know who he is). There were a few subplots, but I feel that it was written in such a way that it didn't distract from the main plot of the story. The ending surprised me a little (when I read mysteries I tend to try and solve it myself, sometimes I succeed, but not this time) but it was a good ending. I would recommend it to anyone who likes paranormal mystery books. It's a fun read.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! XOXO!

It's OK Thursday!

Its Ok Thursdays

It's OK...

...to think that the movie 21 Jump Street wasn't as bad as you thought it would be. Although it had some "crude humor", which is something I'm not a fan of (it's just not my thing). SEMI SPOILER ALERT, KEEP READING AT YOUR OWN RISK: Fans of the TV show might recognize a few faces, that's all I'm gonna say for now. BUT, I think I prefer the original TV show to the movie. Sorry Channing!
...to think that all of your sweet followers should check out these two blogs (they are good friends of mine who are just starting out in the blog world!) Please click on the buttons below and go say howdy! :)

...to keep checking your bank account in hopes that your tax return has already been deposited (even though you just filed on Sunday).

...that your Hotties board on Pinterest is now at 96 pins.

...to think that all boxes of chocolate should come with a cheat sheet so you know what the filling is.
Gift from one of my co-workers (love the baseball theme).
...to think that coconut should NEVER be a filling in a box of chocolates (blek).

...to convince yourself as long as you are drinking water, it's okay to have three pieces of chocolate from the box pictured above.

...to be proud of yourself for working out at least four times a week for the past three and a half weeks (Turbo Jam workout rocks!)

...to wish you could just airbrush your body to look the way you wanted it to. At the rate I'm going, I will never been seen in a bathing suit ever again. :/
If only I still looked THIS good in a two piece! ;)

What's OK with you today?? XOXO!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm loving...

That three weeks from today my friends Tonya, Ashley and I will be heading to Surprise, Arizona for our Rangers Spring Training trip! Wee-hoo! :)

I used our favorite Rangers players for the logo! ;) Thanks to Tonya for the pictures!

I'm loving...

That even the national media is going off on AT&T for slowing down the speed of unlimited data plan users. My friends and I may or may not be sending tweets to AT&T expressing our displeasure as well.

I'm loving...

The voicemail that the BFF left me yesterday. It made my day. :)

Besties!
I'm loving...

Songs by my friend James David Carter. I absolutely love his voice. I'm hoping if I keep bugging him, he'll eventually come do a concert in Texas! ;) Click here for more videos of him singing! Follow him on Twitter here.

I'm loving...

That these pictures make me laugh really hard and cause me to forget that I'm having a bad awful challenging day.

I'm loving...

That even though I'm pretty sure this movie is going to be really terrible awful disgraceful bad, I get to see it for free and get a chance to hang out with my home girl Monica! AND we get to see Channing Tatum (well, we will see him in the movie, he won't be there in person, which is a shame).

Couldn't risk someone printing this and trying to get in! :)
Happy Wednesday my friends! As always, thanks for reading! I really appreciate each and every one of y'all!!

XOXO!

Tuesday Tunes

This afternoon I've been goofing off on Pinterest hard at work on job related stuff, and have been jamming to my country music YouTube playlist. I thought I would post some of those videos today for a Tuesday Tunes post. :)
